Wolfpack Live Reviews

Punk Rock Bowling Festival (Las Vegas) main stage, Day 3 – Spinning Platters – 10/6/2017 By Oliver Brink.

Suddenly we were punched in the face by Melbourne’s Wolfpack. This politically minded hardcore 3 piece played an intense set that reminded me of what CRASS might have sounded like if they were a metal band. The songs encouraged radical self-inspection as well critical thinking about socio-political environments. They also are a not for profit band and donate their album revenue to no-kill animal shelters and other various charities. Their energy was unstoppable, and they joked about bringing the heat with them from Down Under. A great band to look into if you haven’t seen or heard them yet.

Suicidal Tendencies + Wolfpack @ The Gov, Adelaide – Hi-Fi Way – 26/3/2018 By Iain McCallum

Wolfpack hail from Melbourne, another three-piece band, these guys play hard and fast. The band themselves are a non-for-profit band, using money from shows and sales to donate to various animal welfare charities. Much like the headliners, it’s hard to categorize them, the drummer Tom’s vocals were reminiscent of Gallows while the music could’ve been Metallica, Sabbath or the Ramones. What is was though was immensely enjoyable and fun to bear witness too. It’s infectious, it’s bouncy, it’s heavy and you almost find yourself singing along to songs you haven’t heard before, they were that engrossing.

Anti-Flag + Wolfpack + Scott Reynolds (ALL) @ Max Watt’s, Melbourne – Heavy Mag – 11/12/2016 By Matt Barton

Anti-racism. Anti-homophobic. Anti-sexist. Anti-capitalist. Anti-transphobic. Anti-fascist. Anti-nationalist. Anti-war. ANTI-FLAG! Anti-Flag is back in Australia playing their highly controversial For Blood and Empire in full for its tenth anniversary. Tonight sees Melbourne’s Max Watt’s play host to the final show on the tour.

Local trio Wolfpack hit the stage first up. Led by the extremely enthusiastic drummer/singer Drum Wolf Tom (who reminds me a lot of Adam D. of Killswitch Engage) the party band play through a tight set of heavy punk rock. The great thing about this band is they are completely not-for-profit. All money they make goes to animal welfare charities and they have raised nearly $30 thousand so far so definitely get behind them!

Cockney Rejects + Wolfpack @ The Corner, Melbourne – Desert Highways – 23/10/2019 By Mark Ireland

Wolfpack are one of the few bands around that walk the walk and talk the talk, they sing about political issues and they stand up 100% for what they believe in, they are a 100% not for profit band and all their earnings go to animal charities. They have a brutal hybrid mix of metal and punk, a bit of kick one, two to the head and guts. At the end of the set I felt match fit for the main act, bounce on the toes, take off the gloves, a few deep breaths and I’m ready to go again. They finished off their set with the Judas Priest classic ‘Breaking The Law’.

The Exploited + Wolfpack @ Max Watts, Melbourne – Heavy Mag – 12/12/2015 By Greg Barnes

Wolfpack were the final support of the night. Their crossover sound, which blends punk & thrash (dare I say it) tightly in a well-executed fashion, did not quite move the crowd in the manner 80’s hardcore would, but that’s not surprising in a building full of old fashioned punks. The band have a solid sound with Tom the drummer wailing on the mic, a shredding guitar section & charismatic bass. The three piece held their own on stage, even with the majority of the audience holding back for the headliner.

In essence, Wolfpack have to be holding down one of the most authentic punk rock ethos of any band in Melbourne. Completely non for profit, raising thousands for animal welfare (Victorian dog rescue) & having a righteous approach on and off the stage. Their sound may be a product of cultural evolution but their attitude is as official as it gets.

The Misfits + Wolfpack @ Max Watts, Melbourne – Desert Highways – 11/12/2015 By Callum Doig

Opening up the stage were punk trio Wolfpack, a 100% not-for-profit group. Even though they were given a forty-five minute set, the trio weren’t picky and kept it towards the thirty minute mark. Wolfpack later announced that they’ve managed to raise over $20,000 for animal welfare and that they were performing the next night at the same venue with The Exploited. They pulled in a good crowd, being the first act of the evening, and received some great responses from the audience as they thrashed out a number of fast-paced tracks throughout their spotlight onstage.

Corrosion Of Conformity + Wolfpack @ The Rev, Melbourne – The Rock Pit – 26/7/2014 By Andrew Schizodeluxe

Next up was 3 piece outfit Wolfpack who’s vocalist was also the drummer which as we eventually saw through their set, was an amazing display of skill and talent. Musically it fitted with the COC theme night with a mix of crossover/punk kind of style but with some heavy thrash riffage going on. They earned their opening slot for the night judging by the crowds receptive reaction afterwards.

Wolfpack were doing their sound check and it was loud. Really loud! Without a fuss Wolfpack kicked off their set like the well-oiled machine they are. Wolfpack are a band you have to see to believe; a three piece punk outfit with a drummer who doesn’t just play like a maniac, but carries the lead vocals at the same time. For the readers out there who may not grasp how impressive that is, imagine rubbing your belly and patting your head, while writing your memoirs with your fucking toes. Playing tracks tapped into frustrations with everything from social issues to the very scene they play in, Wolfpack are the real deal. Since their inception they have toured both locally and nationally, giving every last cent of profit to charity. The last count was nearly $18,000! Go see them.

DRI + Wolfpack @ The Hi-Fi, Brisbane – Frankensounds 1/5/2014 By Kenada Quinlan

Wolfpack have the hearts and the sound of an army of 300. A not for profit, gifted 3 piece who drove 20 hours from Melbourne to strut, play and sing to support animal welfare and children in need. Led by the upbeat disposition of the voice, drum rhythms and effortless energy of Tom Wolf, bassist Kane Wolf supports with a steel clad bass sound, while gritty guitarist Brad Wolf’s riffs overlay in harmony. Their set resonating as strong as the causes they fight for.

DRI + Wolfpack @ The Hi-Fi, Brisbane – SF Media 1/5/2014 By Vincent Von Fuhk

Not knowing very much about Wolfpack I was rather curious as to how they would stack up. The not for profit band, where all funds made from cd and t-shirt sales go to charity have a straight up punk n roll sound. A three piece, fronted by drummer & vocalist Tom Wolfpack, who was rather jovial and chatty with the crowd have a classic punk rock sound mixing from bands such as The Clash, Social Distortion and Rancid. A good catchy sound with a great message behind it. Definitely watch this band if you get the chance.

DRI + Wolfpack @ The Hi-Fi, Sydney – Loud Mag 2/5/2014 By Luke Tolhurst

Next on were Wolfpack from Melbourne which featured the very rare combo of the drummer/vocalist. They stormed through an enjoyable set of punk and thrash songs before the singer’s voice understandably started to waiver; such was the enormity of energy he was expelling at the back of the stage. I will give full credit to the band as they’re 100% non profit and have donated an incredible amount of their earnings to animal rights organisations. They look like they have a bright future ahead of them.

Wolfpack w/ DOA @ Hermann’s Bar, Sydne – SF Media – 26/4/2014 By Derek Huckel

Wolfpack were next with their version of street punk crossed with Metallica ‘Ride The Lightning’ era bass and guitar. This three piece were led by drummer & vocalist Tom Wolfpack. The mix of guitar and bass still very prominent in their sound whilst being led by the drums. Tom engaged in a little more chat than most bands do but his endearing banter engaged some women up front and others in the curious crowd about how all funds from their CDs and t-shirts sold went to charity. Their tunes included ‘Golden Ring’, ‘Motel Six’, ‘Dating The Devil’ & ‘G.T.S.’ These guys are next supporting DRI touring around the country.
