Learn to Ski and Ride at West Mountain. West offers daily group and private lesson instruction to children and adults of all abilities. Our passionate instructors are trained and ready to help everyone be better skiers and riders. West’s Ski & Ride School is a certified member school of the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

25-26 SKI & SNOWBOARD GROUP LESSONS FOR FIRST-TIME BEGINNERS (ages 4+)*
West Mountain's group lessons for first-time beginner skiers and snowboarders ages 4 and older are a great way to improve and simply enjoy the sport. Group lessons are offered throughout the winter season beginning when we open in December through March 21 in our beginner area. Rental equipment is available at our very own West Mountain Sports rental shop (across the courtyard from the Main Lodge).
Reservations are required and must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance by calling a reservation specialist at 518-636-3699 ext. 316.
25-26 Group Lesson Times:
Weekday: 4pm and 5:30pm
Weekend: 9:30am, 12pm, 2pm
Holidays (midweek and weekend): 9:30am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm
25-26 Group Lesson Rate: 1.5 hr $70pp on weekends and holidays and 1 hr $60/pp on weekdays (non-holiday) for all ages.
Additional Details
- Group lessons are for first time beginner skiers & snowboarders ages 4 and older in the Learning Area.
- Students are paired with other students of the same discipline and level.
- Provides students with physical readiness for development into skiing and snowboarding.
- Prices do NOT include a lift ticket. A pre-purchased ticket or season pass is required. If you already have an RFID card, tickets can be loaded HERE. Tickets can also be added during the reservation process.
- Rentals can be added online HERE or during the reservation process.
- If you are taking a lesson and getting rentals, please arrive at least one (1) hour prior to your lesson to get your equipment and be at the meeting area before your lesson start time. If you are not renting, please arrive at least 30 mins prior to the start of your lesson to ensure you are checked in, geared up, properly fitted and ready to go.

25-26 SKI & SNOWBOARD PRIVATE LESSONS (ages 4+)*
We offer daily Private lessons to all ability levels, ages 4 and older throughout the season. Our snow sports team is comprised of experienced instructors, many of whom are certified by the Professional Ski Instructors Of America or American Association Of Snowboard Instructors. Rental equipment is available at our very own West Mountain Sports rental shop (across the courtyard from the Main Lodge).
Reservations are required and must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Snow Sports office at 518-636-3699 ext. 316.
25-26 Private/Semi-Private Lesson Times:
Weekday: 4pm and 5:30pm
Weekend: 9:30am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm

25-26 FAMILY & FRIENDS PRIVATE LESSON PLAN (ages 4+)*
Improve your skills or learn to ski or snowboard as a family or a group of friends. This private family and friends lesson plan is for 3-6 people ages 4 and older in any combination of ability levels and disciplines. For groups where everyone is not of the same ability level, we teach to the lesser of the abilities to ensure no one is left behind.
25-26 Family and Friend Lesson Rates:
1 hr/1 Person $110 +70 Each Additional Person
2 hr/1 Person $220 +120 Each Additional Person
3 hr/1 Person $330 +150 Each Additional Person

West Mountain's All-Mountain 5 hr Private instruction for beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders (ages 5+) is a great way to improve and simply enjoy the sport. This 5-hr Private instruction is offered throughout the winter season beginning when we open in December through March 21 and is customizable based on Ned’s of the child. Rental equipment is available at our very own West Mountain Sports rental shop (across the courtyard from the Main Lodge).
Reservations are required and must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Snow Sports office at 518-636-3699 ext. 316.
25-26 All-Mountain, 5 hr Private Lesson Times:
Fridays-Sundays 10am-3pm
Holidays (midweek and weekend): 10am-3pm
25-26 Private All-Day Instruction Cost: $420/pp

This discounted Learn to Turn package deal for first-time beginner skiers and snowboarders ages 4 and up includes 1 learning area lift ticket, 1 rental, and 1 group lesson. Weekend availability is limited. This package is not available holiday weeks.
Lesson Times: Weekend: 9:30am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm
Midweek: 4pm and 5:30pm

26-27 LEARN TO SKI OR SNOWBOARD 3-PACK FOR FIRST-TIME BEGINNERS (ages 4+)* |AVAILABLE IN WINTER
This discounted Learn to Ski or Snowboard 3-Pack is offered for $300 to first-time beginner skiers and snowboarders ages 4 and up is available for purchase. The 3-pack includes 3 learning area lift tickets, 3 rentals, 3 lessons, and 3 hot chocolate or coffee vouchers. Lesson Times: Weekend: 9:30am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Midweek: 4pm, 5:30pm. One 3-pack per person. Weekend and holiday availability is limited.

*Beginning in 22-23, all lesson participants will be charged an RFID card fee. There will be an additional replacement fee if the card is lost etc. Lesson Participants will need their RFID card to access the lift.
Please note: We do not issue refunds for lessons.
If a child can't ski due to medical reasons, a letter from a doctor is required for verification.
Prices may be subject to tax
West Mountain products cannot be resold, transferred or refunded.
