About Vote.org

Last updated on June 25, 2025

Vote.org is the largest nonpartisan nonprofit in the United States of America dedicated to increasing voter participation. Our mission is simple but urgent: use technology, data, and strategic outreach to ensure every eligible American has the information and access they need to cast a ballot.

Since our founding, we’ve helped over 40 million people get election-ready - making Vote.org one of the most cost-effective and scalable tools in the civic space. In 2024 alone, more than 8.3 million people used Vote.org to check their registration, request a mail-in ballot, find their polling place, and receive critical election reminders.

Why it matters

June 20, 2025 marks 500 days until the midterms. The next 500 days will shape the next 5 years of our publicly elected democracy - and possibly much longer. The stakes are not theoretical. They’re showing up in statehouses, courthouses, and on ballots nationwide. We’re facing coordinated efforts to suppress participation, limit access, and silence younger, more diverse voters who represent the future of this country.

The truth is: democracy is not self-executing. It demands action - and right now, it demands scale. That’s why Vote.org is doubling down: reaching more voters sooner, in more communities, with better tools and smarter outreach.

Why more voices matter

A surge in turnout - from all sides - doesn’t deepen the divide. It strengthens the bridge.

When more people vote, we get:

  • Better data about what Americans actually want
  • More legitimacy in the policies that follow
  • Fewer narrow outcomes decided by only a sliver of the population

Because when more people vote, our democracy works better - for everyone. But, nearly 36% of eligible Americans didn’t vote in 2024, and millions more are at risk of being left out again in 2026 and 2028.

We’re not trying to elect candidates. We’re here to close that participation gap - by meeting voters where they are, making the process easier, and ensuring no one is left behind simply because they missed a deadline, moved recently, or didn’t know their rights.

A smarter way to fund change

In 2020, political campaigns spent over $14 billion, with the average cost to sway a single vote ranging from $31 (field) to $137 (direct mail). Vote.org, by contrast, helps move voters to action at a fraction of that cost - often under $2 per verified action - sometimes as low as $0.60.

Campaigns spend to win. Vote.org spends to build - access, trust, scale, and turnout. Every dollar goes toward action, not partisanship. That’s why your support matters: because a healthy democracy doesn’t start with a candidate. It starts with you and your ballot.
