Martin has confirmed \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d play \u201cThe Mad King\u201d<\/a> is set to transfer to London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\t\u201cI had a splendid time in Stratford upon Avon for the premier of Duncan Macmillan and Dominic Cooke\u2019s epic new stage production of \u2018Game of Thrones: The Mad King,\u2019\u201d Martin wrote on his website. \u201cAnd furthermore I\u2019m thrilled to announce that the production will be moving on to London to share the experience with a wider audience. It promises to be an exhilarating journey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\tProduced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and HBO, \u201cThe Mad King\u201d debuted in July at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford to standing ovations<\/a> after cancelling the first week of previews<\/a> due to technical difficulties. Its six-week run, which was almost entirely sold out, ends Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\tThe show was adapted by Duncan Macmillan and directed by Dominic Cooke with the \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d creator serving as exec producer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\tThe theater, which is two hours outside of London, was transformed for the production<\/a> thanks to 4,000 hours of company and 11 external engineering companies under the watchful eye of set designer Chloe Lamford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\tCo-Artistic directors Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey said: “We are thrilled that George R. R. Martin\u2019s ‘Game of Thrones: The Mad King’ will have a future life in London. This production is unique and brilliantly demonstrates the extraordinary things that theatre can do. The reaction from audiences in Stratford has been phenomenal, and we are so honoured that 57% of our bookers were new to the RSC.
