Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang is making a big new bet on an open-source AI future. Huang is at the forefront of the AI revolution, with his company’s financials (and stock price) soaring thanks to insatiable demand for Nvidia’s chips that power artificial-intelligence applications. When Huang co-founded Nvidia in 1993, the killer app was graphics processing chips for video games. Now AI, with its computationally intensive needs, has dramatically superseded that market. Huang has served since the company’s inception as president, CEO and a member of the board of directors. Born in Taiwan, he moved to the U.S. as a kid. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University and a master’s degree in EE from Stanford. Prior to founding Nvidia, Huang worked for chip manufacturing firm LSI Logic and semiconductor company AMD.
