Founded in 1994 and acquired by Pushkin Press in 2024, Steerforth Press is dedicated to publishing distinguished narrative nonfiction that ranges from history and investigative journalism to biography and true crime. The imprint’s mission remains unchanged since its inception: to publish books that are written well, intended to engage the full attention of the reader, and have something new or important to say. Its list of vital, independent voices includes definitive works such as Charles Brandt’s I Heard You Paint Houses and Daniel Sjursen’s A True History of the United States.

Pushkin Press publishes the world’s best writing – everything from timeless classics to the urgent and contemporary. Founded in 1997, our list encompasses novels, non-fiction, crime, children’s books, classics, and more.
