Whether you walk to work or traverse Stanford’s stunning campus for a meeting, lunch, or errands, studies show that walking promotes physical and mental health. To find accessible, paved, and lighted routes around campus, visit our Suggested Travel Routes and map your walking route using the directions tab. Enter your starting and ending addresses and select the pedestrian icon. Additionally, you can use the pedestrian icon in the map tools on the right to estimate walking times.

Expert tip: Find out how long it will take to walk between campus locations. The Stanford Campus Map features an icon that enables walking times, giving you a reliable estimate of your journey duration.

Know safe walking laws. Pedestrians have the right-of-way when they have the green light to walk. If vehicles have a green light, the pedestrian must yield to the vehicle. If there is no light, pedestrians should exercise caution and wait for traffic to clear before they cross.
