We collaborate with writers, actors
As well as touring our work at theatres across the country and internationally, we also stage plays at our 150-seater studio based in Fairfield Halls, Croydon.
Our offices and the Talawa Studio are located at Talawa Theatre Company, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon, CR9 1DG. When visiting, please report to Artists Entrance (at the back of the building)
We are a 10-minute walk from East Croydon Station, which is accessible both by train and tram.
There is a bus stop directly at the front of the building.
We’re open from 10am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Our offices are usually closed for two weeks during the Christmas period. We will be closed from Friday 19 December 2025 to Monday 05 January 2026.
Parking is available at the Artists Entrance, but you must let us know beforehand if you plan to drive in and make sure you receive a confirmation that the space is available.
Getting Involved
Talawa offers two skills pathways
Creating Routes – a free practical facilitator training programme for Global Majority creatives aged 18+ who want to use their creative skills in community settings (e.g. working with groups in schools, community organisations, health settings, criminal justice etc). We recruit for this annually, usually during November.
Introductory Writers’ Group – this talent development programme is carefully designed for you to take your ideas or stories from the page to the stage over a six-month process. Applications open annually through our Script Reading Service, usually during December.
Talawa Young People’s Theatre (TYPT) is a fully funded four week intensive theatre laboratory run every summer. TYPT facilitates collaboration between emerging and established theatre makers, with the company developing, devising and creating a theatre piece from scratch. The programme culminates in a series of shows.
This is a collaborative process that provides a stepping stone for emerging Black artists, fostering an inclusive and representative space for performers, directors, designers and technicians, and more, at the beginning of their careers.
