PREVIEW

Sri Lanka will eye a clean sweep when it takes on Zimbabwe in the second and final One-Day International at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

The visiting Lankans clinched a thrilling seven-run win in the series opener on Friday, thanks to left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka’s last-over hat-trick, which prevented Zimbabwe from overhauling the 299-run target.

With the bat, opener Pathum Nissanka, and the lower-order duo of Janith Liyanage and Kamindu Mendis were the saviours for Sri Lanka. Nissanka set the tone with a 92-ball 76, while Liyanage and Kamindu’s brisk 137-run partnership for the sixth wicket propelled Sri Lanka to a competitive total.

In reply, Zimbabwe lost two wickets in the first over before Ben Curran and stand-in skipper Sean Williams’ 118-run stand steadied the chase. Sikandar Raza’s valiant 87-ball 92 carried Zimbabwe to the brink of a special win before Madushanka changed the complexion of the match.
