In Reddit's relationship-related subreddits, NC stands for "No Contact." No Contact is a strategy some Redditors recommend for recovering from intense breakups, by having no post-breakup contact with former SOs.
According to r/relationship_thoughts' Guide to No Contact, NC "is intended to speed the healing process after a break. Its goal is to make you OK again, either by helping you to forget the other person forever, or to get over them enough to be their friend."
While cutting an ex out of your life entirely might sound simple, NC is complicated enough that it has spawned its own subreddits, including r/ExNoContact and r/nocontact. There, those who are going or have gone through the No Contact process can share their stories and support each other.
When you don't have anything to say on a particular matter, you can send "NC," which stands for "no comment." You can also use it when you want to say something controversial, but it's probably best if you don't say anything.
People in the public eye who are stalked by the media for a juicy comment are well familiar with the "no comment" routine. But for normal people, NC can still come in handy when texting or conversing online.
