“Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe; and sometimes I think we're not. In either case, the idea is quite staggering.”

The universe should be teeming with life — so why the silence? Scientists interrogate every suspect variable in the cosmic equation to solve humanity's greatest mystery: Where are the aliens?
When physicist Enrico Fermi first asked "Where is everybody?" at Los Alamos in 1950, he was puzzled by the lack of evidence that aliens have ever visited the Earth — despite he and his colleagues agreeing that the universe must be teeming with life.
Then in 1961, astronomer Frank Drake proposed the famous Drake Equation, a string of variables, each of which impacts the probable number of technological civilizations in the Milky Way. Might one (or more) of those variables be the culprit that has prevented extraterrestrial life from developing at all — or might there be some other reason that we don't appear to have been visited?
Through interviews with leading physicists, astronomers, and astrobiologists, we'll interrogate each of our suspect variables one at a time. We'll entertain many more theories as well: life may indeed be everywhere, yet there might be something completely unexpected preventing (or hiding) contact. And if we're lucky, our investigation will ultimately lead us to the answer to our mystery: Where are the aliens?
As with all our films, Skeptoid Media's goal is to encourage people to consider rational explanations over pop-culture sensationalism.
