  • That show/video made me feel uncomfortable things that I don’t even have words to express and I loved it. I didn’t technically see it live when it first aired, but most have seen it not long after on the internet. It always stuck with me and helps me to understand that even if I don’t understand the appeal of any specific piece of art work, that those pieces of work speak to other people in the way that Too Many Cooks spoke to me. It made me feel things that are indescribable.

There was another show called “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” that presses the same buttons and causes similar emotional responses from me.

Dunno why but I can’t get enough of this shit and I want more.

  • It’s 2026. They’d do it willingly, because they know they’d cheat, steal, lie and abuse the facts. But even if that didn’t work, they’d just pull a “It’s just a joke, bro” and never go through with any negative ramifications. It’s how things work when you’re rich. Do what you want, not consequences. But poor people can’t do what they want, yet face all the consequences.

  • The thing is, in any somewhat sane and precedented administration, the argument could reasonably have been made that some economic struggles, even a year in, were largely due to polices of the previous administration.

The problem with this administration is, they literally did everything possible to fuck the economy up, pretty much from day one. Nearly every decision was a bad decision, which had specific and obvious ramifications on the economy. Chaos. Clown show. Chain saw. The current administration owns this shitty economy. They could have litterally sat around twiddling their thumbs doing absolutely nothing but eat hamburders and drink covfefe and the economy would be doing orders of magnitude better than it is now. Instead they decided tariffs and firings and tax cuts to the ultra rich were in order. So now this is all their fault. 100%.

  • When I was a kid in public school, everybody had to take a foreign language, the elective part was that we had a choice as to which language we took. Some chose French. Some chose Spanish. If you came from money, you also had the option to take foreign language courses at participating colleges, which opened up a lot of other options like German, Japanese, and Latin, amongst others.

Has that changed? Or perhaps it’s different in different jurisdictions?

For me personally, I wish Latin had been an option for me, as it’s used extensively in biology and it would have been incredibly helpful. In terms of foreign language courses I’ve taken, I’ve had Spanish, French, and German. I don’t use any of them, except on rare occasion I’ll hear/see something in Spanish that I can vaguely understand the highlights of given enough time. French is pretty much 100% useless in my day to day life. German has been helpful once or twice when watching a movie or listening to music, but otherwise, useless as well.

Keep in mind, however smart you are, most people are not that smart. They’ll never be curious enough or smart enough to learn another language. They don’t have enough exposure to another language to really remember it. It’s basically of waste of their time and educational money. I’m all for teaching these things in schools as electives, but forcing kids to learn multiple different languages? I think we should have universal/single payer healthcare, better medicare/medicaid, free school lunches (and breakfasts), true livable minimum wages, and a myriad other things first.

  • Yep! And that’s part of the culture I grew up in and came to age in. Media that demonized and mocked gay men (and really all gay people), even otherwise progressive and lighthearted media.

It was damaging to me as a child. More so than a lot of people could ever realize.

Also disheartening is that a lot of my super religious family will use the term cocksucker as a derogatory statement right in front of me, knowing I’m gay. These are the same exact people who literally freak out and act like you’ve shot their mother in front of them if you say the word “fuck” or “god damn”.

  • Anecdotally speaking, this has been my experience as well. I would even go so far as to say the kids I know who smoked the most (or had that reputation) are the ones with the most/worst psychiatric issues as adults.

I have nothing against cannabis use and I do not judge people who use it, but I think parents who are too accepting / forgiving of their teenagers’ use are doing them a disservice. Additionally, when I was a teen, kids were smoking actual, real weed. These days, kids are vaping and using what are essentially poorly tested/understood pharmaceuticals. I won’t claim to be an expert in the topic, but I certainly think there’s ample reason to be concerned about the effects of these things.

  • The tariffs are basically the “consumption tax” that was popular in “libertarian” circles decades (or longer) ago. I remember a buddy of mine going down that path circa 2004 “income tax doesn’t work, we should have a consumption tax aka universal sales tax instead”.

On the other hand, this strikes me as yet another scheme to try and cover up the prior scheme. Basically, he thinks/realizes that he might have to pay back the money from the prior/current scheme, so he’s hatched a new one to try and collect enough money to at least break even.

    We’ll see how it goes.

  • The one that still gets me, and mostly because in this day and age of 2026 it still doesn’t get as much homophobic backlash as I feel it clearly deserves is the pejorative: cocksucker.

In my anecdotal experience, 99.55% of the time, it’s leveraged against men and used as a homophobic slur.

But even so, is sucking cock really that terrible of a thing to do? The vast majority of people with a cock enjoy the service. We literally celebrate the people who do it well for us personally, in most cases.

Why is it used as a slur?

Anyway, I’m off to suck some cock, see ya’ll later.

  • Clowns and snakes are two things that never even remotely tingled my horror vibes.

Centipedes (and scorpions) on the other hand, irrational cosmic horror.

Years ago, I moved to a new part of the world I’d never lived in before. Shortly after getting settled in, I saw my first (completely harmless and highly beneficial) house centipede. I freaked. That asshole animal literally LEPT off the wall aimed straight after my jugular vein. I flicked it to the floor, removed my flip-flop and flung the footwear directly onto that critter. Smashed 90% of its legs off, and the monstrosity still slithered right at me without skipping a beat. What the fuck are they made of? What the fuck is their motivation?

  • Gotta geek out a tiny bit.

Assuming my uncited research from a decade+ ago is correct …

Citronella was actually extracted from the “Lemon Eucalyptus / Lemon-scented Gum” tree, formerly known as Eucalyptus citriodora but more accurately known as Corymbia citriodora.

The “Citronella Scented Geraniums” never worked much at all to repel mosquitoes. It was essentially the placebo effect. I’ve done really lame and totally non-scientific experiments myself. The geraniums simply do not work to any significant benefit. People will literally argue with you day and night about this, but it’s just not true.

That being said, grow scented geraniums to your heart’s content. Burn citronella candles as if your life depended on it. They smell really good and olfactory cues like this will burn memories into your brain that you’ll treasure when you’re older and fading.
