ABOUT ME
My name is Carl Cruz-Nantel, and I am the owner and creator of SDCHG. I’m Tico (Costa Rican) and Franco-Ontarian (Canadian). I’m currently studying Veterinary Medicine, which I know is quite a different field. I started SDCHG a few years ago to share the fantasy world I’ve been building, creating candles inspired by the lore and worldbuilding from my book series.
I’ve been writing since I was about six years old, and over time, my stories have grown into a universe made up of fragments from every idea I’ve ever created. My book series feels like the child of all those years of imagination and storytelling. My spirituality as a Wiccan-Hellenist also influences my creativity, shaping the atmosphere and themes of my worlds without directly mirroring mythology.
Writing has always been my first love, but since it can be hard to make a living from it, I found another way to bring that same magic into the world through SDCHG. My candles let me share pieces of my universe in a tangible way, blending art and storytelling in something people can experience for themselves.
FICTIONAL WORLD OF DINETRIKIA
The fictional world of Dinetrikia, part of my upcoming Dream Mistress book series, inspires everything made here at SDCHG. Every product is based on the cultures and people of that world, such as the Navinians, Hevapols, and many others. Each candle has its own story. For example, Tchoko’Ñatiarja is a fictional drink enjoyed by the Navinian people, made from twigs of their sacred trees.
You might not recognize the names of our scents just yet, but every candle has its story available to read on our website. You do not need to know what a Tchoko’Ñatiarja or who Sh’ar is to enjoy our candles, but it does make the experience even more special.
The language written on our candle labels for example is Dinedrad, a fictional language I created for the Dinedrad people of my book series.
WHAT WE SELL
We create scented lotion candles using essential oils and natural soy wax. Our lotion candles melt into warm, nourishing lotion, completely free of paraffin wax.
INGREDIENTS
Our candles do NOT contain paraffin wax, which is a wax made from petroleum. We make our candles using 100% natural soy wax, and it is perfectly safe to use on the skin. Do not worry, our lotion candle do not only contain wax. The lotion will not harden on your skin unless cold water is directly applied to the skin after application.
Our candles contain soy wax, coconut oil, shea butter and essential oils (The blends vary for every candle).
TEA CUP COLLECTION
Our teacup collection is entirely composed of thrifted cups. All our teacup lotion candles come with a plate (saucer). The cups themselves should not shatter as long as the flame doesn’t get in close contact with the cup. Please do NOT light your candle once less than 1/4 of the lotion remains in the teacup, the precise number may vary, but it comes down to personal judgement. The flame should never get in close contact with the teacup, and the amount of lotion in the cup should never reach under 2cm~.

Every story and content showcased at SDCHG is entirely human and created by me. In recent years, AI has unfortunately been creeping into a lot of art found online. I make all our labels, fictional languages (with the help of my friend), stories, and drawings.
