You know what’s crazy? Proper use of alt-text would save you from this.
As much as I hate seeing the copy-paste block of text on why alt-text should be included with image posts… I can’t help but admit that alt-text paves the way for better post filtering and overall information preservation.
Some of us in the US are fully aware of the situation, keeping ourselves updated with the latest information, engaging in community efforts, etc. and don’t have the energy to keep looking at the problem during our little time away from the problem. Does that make us Ostrich-like?
But of course, that doesn’t mean our experiences should dictate the way the rules are interpreted in a community meant for a global (albeit mostly English-speaking) audience.

My understanding of most Flash material is that he runs fast but then meets villains who run faster so then they have a fast-off and then the Flash unlocks new fast-ness to be faster than the villain. This keeps happening until they are basically breaking space-time.
That’s a shame. Pavlov is one of the few games that supports dynamic foveated rendering (DFR) on AMD graphics through Quad Views. I was hoping to test the performance gains after getting big uplifts from DFR in Kayak VR but I don’t really want to buy an online-focused game that’s falling off.
I am on PCVR, Asgard’s Wrath just happens to be one of Meta’s few PCVR games with depth. I just found it to be a slog.
I’m definitely going to play Alyx soon, but I’m too sucked into VR sim racing at the moment. Le Mans Ultimate and Dirt Rally 2.0 keep me on the edge of my seat at all times.
I was interested in Contractors and the CoD Zombies maps that people recreated in them, but I haven’t gotten around to buying it yet.
Just more reason to build a time machine, I guess.
I just got into VR and I recently tried Ace Combat 7 in VR… Incredible experience once you have the right setup.
As for motion controlled VR games, I tried Asgard’s Wrath and was pretty disappointed. Synth Riders is always a good time, and Kayak VR is gorgeous, but I’m struggling to find a game that has gameplay more compelling than “shoot here” and “swing your swords wildly.”
Did you tickle their balls while you sucked on their toes? Anything for a job these days.
Yeah, I would say they are intricate (lots of sections and moving parts) but not complex (hard to comprehend). Like, I think with the right manual and some time I could learn to fix it, but I’m never going to do the same with, say, a helicopter.

Man, the IOC and WADA are super corrupted organizations, but I don’t think that the “Enhanced Games” are anything close to the right solution to that problem. Doing the wrong things and claiming the right reasons…
I know they’re not a scientist. But to say they have no grasp or interest in science would also be wrong, so I think the answer lies somewhere in the gray area, and not this black and white perspective presented in OP.
You can be enthusiastic and have a simplified-but-robust understanding of some kinds of science, that doesn’t make you less of an enjoyer. But there are certainly people who only understand at a surface level, yet pretend to be immersed in the material and demand to be treated like experts.
Does an F1 driver need to understand and utilize advanced calculus on the track to do well? I feel that concepts like grip/slip, aero, centripetal force, and weight transfer are intimately linked to an intuition for physics, even if they aren’t being understood at a calculus-requiring level by the driver.
Yet, I would struggle to call that situation “outreach” or “popularizarion.” I would still consider the driver’s understanding of physics as tangential to science.
And then we have things that remap what seems one-dimensional into abstract spaces, so that we can draw new conclusions.
Also Elden Ring was pirated pretty much at launch because of how simple and outdated FromSoft’s DRM practice are.
I was doing the thing where you cut lines down a fruit and then pull the slices off of the pit. Except, it was a nectarine, and the pit had a spine sharp enough to cut paper.
I sliced open my index finger nailbed, ~4mm across, on a fucking nectarine pit. Dammit.
