Devmapall@lemmy.ziptoA Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Investors are buying close to half the empty lots in LA burn zones, report says
2·il y a 1 moisI have a friend who bought a home. Pretty envious of it. It’s not super nice (but it is a Luxor) or in a great location. But it’s also not run down or in a bad location. Right next to a busy road but is close to shops and restaurants.
He’s 36. I personally don’t think I’ll ever own property. Not sure what we’ll do with my parents house but that will be interesting when the time comes.
Edit: my friend isn’t well off. He just saved money enough for a down payment and bought it during COVID.

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Epic CEO wants Valve and Steam to stop requiring devs to disclose generative AI usageEnglish
9·il y a 2 moisYeah man you hit it right on the head. None of these companies can be good because by nature they can’t. Decent companies can exist and they recognize customers as who are important.
Customers want a lot. Valve delivers a lot of what they want, gas lights some (I just assume), and the ones who are fucked are few comparatively speaking.

3·il y a 2 moisI had to download a file search program because Windows is such shit. This program searches both my harddrives in no time and iirc shows folder file sizes.
I’ve used windows since the 90s. I’m finally switching to Linux when I get a new PC.

1·il y a 2 moisWorked for my dad and a couple other people I know.
Not the same story for me but hey that’s life
I recently drank a rose flavored sparkling water (Waterloo brand I think) that tasted almost exactly like alcohol (and rose I guess). I took one sip and had to throw the rest out.
You might like it for the taste and none of the effects.
I’ve got a coworker now and have had multiple others where this job was their first job in life. They just sold drugs before and, for some, after.
All of them didn’t want to sell drugs but it was easy money for their skill set and it paid for their use. From what they said it was a pretty annoying job.
All you wrote rings true for me.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•They say word-of-mouth marketing is the most effective form of marketing. What games did you (not) enjoy that came well-recommended by friends to you, and why did they recommend it to you?
2·il y a 4 moisYep it absolutely was a problem on release.
I enjoyed playing ac1 back then but it was very repetitive.

151·il y a 4 moisI can’t imagine homeschooling. Not that I think it’s bad but that it has to be so hard to do. And harder still to do it right.
Glad you pulled out of that course. PragerU is hot garbage and I hate how my autocorrect apparently knows PragerU and didn’t try to change it to something else.
How hard do you find it to homeschool? How many hours do you reckon it takes a day?
Video of a skateboarder skating off a roof of a church (I think. It was a multi tiered roof with at least two tiers church). Pretty sure the guy falls when he hits the ground. The roofing tiles were those red brown half circle shingles they have in the south western United States.
It’s an old video probably from 2005ish. I have no idea what site it was from. And now that I think about it he might have been a roller blader. It’s been a long time since I’ve looked but I could find it for the life of me when I was trying to find it again

11·il y a 5 moisThere were more than one person using different techniques to screw with the LLM bots. Haven’t seen anyone but them personally in a whole. I think they also mentioned their job or hobbies include something with old language.
I highly doubt changing a couple characters screws with the data scraping much. Or that it matters if it does but I also understand wanting to protect your own thoughts and words.

Games@lemmy.world•Raccoin: Coin Pusher Roguelike | Announcement TrailerEnglish
7·il y a 5 moisI loved coin pushers as a child. More so than every other gambling game in arcades.
I still like coin pushers. The few times I’ve been to arcades (the non good kinds) I’ve had fun with the coin pushers. Not the same fun as a child but still.
Most of the coin pushers on steam suck. Coin Push RPG is halfway decent. I’ve played enough to get my money’s worth.
I have this game wishlisted. I’m sure it won’t be the same as a kid but hopefully the extras will make it fun.
As a side note on the gambling thing, I sometimes play the lottery but I definitely have a problem with gambling. I stay away from real gambling as a rule. I know myself.

2·il y a 5 moisI just played some an hour ago. I’ve had it for a while and haven’t played much. I’ve only unlocked three characters and two levels.
It’s fun. I very much enjoy the sound of skeletons bones clattering when they die.
Movement seems slower than any other survivors game I’ve played. It’s a little too slow for my taste but upgrades and gear do make it faster.
I agree you should go back to it. The aesthetics are fantastic.

Roblox fascinates me as someone who casually knows it. There’s a huge ecosystem there just sitting inside a bigger gross child exploitation ring.
Billions of money sifting through kids hands while adults play simulation games with hardcore rules
