I had to switch to lemmy because I couldn’t get the spoiler to show right in Piefed, maybe it doesn’t work or I was screwing it up. Anyway… I’m super happy with this spoiler, I am so bored when watching this feud these days. Then again I’m burned out on wrestling lately.

Goldberg ended up losing as predicted, made to look strong, Gunther is a miracle worker getting an ok match out of him, but it’s nothing to go out of your way to watch, NBC has gone straight to commercial, no Goldberg in the ring or nothing from what I saw, just Gunther rolls out, commercial… they then came back to Goldberg and his friends and family in Ring and he has a mic thanking them and the fans, for his career. NBC cuts him off and leaves the show… I assume there is more on peacock.

For us old timers, I have a bittersweet thought on this, tonight we have potentially seen the actual final bit of WCW’s existence in active (well semi-active) wrestling, Goldberg retires and takes the last WCW Theme Song with him, short of Naomi going back to Ernest Miller’s (The Funkadactyl’s) music one day.

I switched over to t.Lemmy.zip from Piefed for this because Piefed.zip is currently really slow for me. For anyone that wanders in here, Piefed and Lemmy each have some strengths. Lemmy (at least Tesseract) has a better notifications system. Piefed has a more bulletin board style (they’re damn similar though) that I kind of prefer. It’s a tossup.

I’m assuming it’s to work with Dom and just long enough WWE gets to use Eddie on TV and secure the rights to his name and likeness for a while longer. If we’re lucky it’ll just be some vault filming or something.

I don’t like how long it took to file the lawsuit, and don’t like it wasn’t reported, but after seeing the video, that was fucked up now knowing it wasn’t an extra, I assumed taking the screwdriver meant it was part of the show.

Hasn’t online always kind of had the IRS? Every 48 minutes (GTA day) I lose money for property upkeep, the mechanic and other stuff; sounds IRS like to me.

The Harris Brothers had some questionable taste in ring attire in the 00s including SS logos, they were part of Aerolux (something like that) who had a stake in TNA during their big money trouble era. Aerolux at the time they were part of TNA claimed they were just playing biker characters and weren’t Nazis but those logos even in the early 00s were frowned on.

AXS TV is a low carriage network, or it was when TNA’s parent company bought it and TNA ended up there. They had coverage in about 32 million households compared to 73 million for USA, TNT, TBS, etc in 2022-2023. They may be in more homes now, some cable companies used to not have it.

I’m somewhere between the two, I used to care about the tv product through the '90s and early '00s. Then when WWE became basically a monopoly I really enjoyed reading the backstage shit and looking at the business functions that lead to that product. I mean I’m not quite in that camp 1 but I enjoy business news and scandal some.

What we know of TNA over the years is that they are a miracle business. Almos nobody could have withstood their crazieness. Hell they were basically a ponzi schemed for a while there with Anthem, Billy, the Nazi Bros and others all believing they were getting the company when Dixie couldn’t pay them.

WWE on the other hand fell upwards in spite of themselves, their implosion, granted part of that is Viacom’s fault, coincided with the slow death of Cable so live programming became coveted by networks who just wanted fans to tune in no matter what. You can look at WWE’s past financials and see in real time as fans and ticket numbers (not sales, they raised prices) declined their revenue kept growing thanks to the TV contracts, had TV not declined the way it did, they would have been WCW’d or been on some obscure channel like Destination America.

I also respect AEW being a private company that doesn’t share that information. No matter how much I would enjoy reading some of it.

No amount of backstage business info really hurts my enjoyment of a product which is way more heavily weighted for my enjoyment, the story-lines do though. Triple H came out and righted WWE’s ship when Vince left, I’ve watched a lot more WWE up until probably Mania than I had for a long time, especially with AEW coming along… now WWE has shit the bed again and it’s as bad if not worse than Vince booking and I quit caring, that hurts my view of the company more than anything.

Overall, neither company is playing a tune I completely care for, but I’m glad they exist, wrestling has been so much better with the inclusion of a second major promotion, and TNA is decent enough even if they don’t have a real tv channel. I don’t know, this feels rambly, I’ll stop here.

Just wait until they start shoving it into the wrestlers gear too, it’s being rumored now. I imagine it’s going to be like when they had Ziggler dress as The Colonel for KFC, just in the new WWE he would always wrestle that way.

Ok… but these carnies really like to carny, so you can’t necessarily trust him. Although I lean towards trusting him based on info that’s come out and the way his kid was calling cap on Triple H’s comments about it being a work.

Ron Killings with the title once before retiring would be cool. Even if it’s a Kane-Austin style 1 night reign.

Also, I enjoyed Truth’s kid calling out HHH for saying it was a work, lol.
