Removed Comment The worst thing about Christians is thier enthusiastic embrace of memes. They try to reduce every nuance into easily remembered catchphrases, and in doing so they cultivate the most base forms of thinking. Nothing about true reality is simple. Greater minds than you and I have slaved over the causes of the most miniscule occurrences and died with less certainty than they began. To think that you just need to believe to be saved. That you need to listen to a pervert interpret a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a garbled set of old Jewish letters to you in an American church built on stolen land, and then you will understand God Almighty. What a joke. Your question is absurd, because it jeopardizes the very personhood of women under the horseshit presupposition that your god exist. It's a bait and switch. by peanuts4life@beehaw.org

Removed Comment It absolutely isn't an overarching *Christian* tenet, given that my former--Methodist--church maintains both pro-choice ideals *and* acceptance of LGBTQ membership, but you do you, as reformists. By all means ban me from the c so I don't accidentally post there again. I've no particular desire to invade and/or participate in an echo chamber, regardless of how wrong I may hold it to be. by RojoSanIchiban@lemmy.world

Removed Comment I could have sworn this appeared to me under AskLemmy on lemmy.world, though now it does show [email protected], so apparently I did scroll by through All, so I'll assume that's my fault, and I do apologize. And yes part of the 'thing' with Lemmy and fediverse is allowing all these interconnected instances. Nonetheless, I stand by my comment. I am *no longer* a Christian, for many reasons, including this one. Even in scripture, God breathes life into man, a fetus doesn't breathe. Numbers 5:21, a priest will give a suspected unfaithful wife a concoction to make her miscarry. Exodus 21:22, if a pregnant woman miscarries due to injury by another person, the father can demand a fine, but it is not considered murder. Deuteronomy 28:18,53, for disobedience, the Lord will curse the fruit of wombs, and make parents eat the fruit of wombs and even their children. Clearly a lack of sanctity of the unborn and even living children from the lord himself. A fetus, even after 20 weeks of gestation has no will, has no breath, literally, figuratively, or spiritually, and more importantly, biologically functions as nothing more than a parasite. It has *potential*, but is not a separate entity, as it is not viable outside of the host. It is not a viable life, let alone a viable person. This is medical, scientific, and legal *reality*. There is no murder because there is no *person*. So I really don't care what you want to feel or want to believe, you don't get to dictate what someone else can do with their body, in spite of factual reality, when it affects only their body, or part of it, and your only reason for doing so is *your* personal belief that a part of their body is a separate living soul. This is you forcing your beliefs on others. You can absolutely decide for yourself never to have one and to believe, however erroneously, that it's murder and you can *judge* others as murderers for having an abortion, and you can absolutely belong to a group that also decides for whatever personal reasons never to have an abortion. I don't care at all what you believe or how you deal with your own body. But you and I both know it doesn't stop there. Feel free to inform me otherwise in an isolated case, but any pro life organization I have ever encountered insists on misinforming, persuading, protesting, lobbying, and fighting the mere act of any abortion for *everyone else*, and it's always based on the very same *incorrect* assertions you've already made. Finally, denying one the ability (or intent to deny) to impose factually incorrect beliefs upon others is NOT imposing my 'beliefs' on anyone else. Fact does not equate to belief. by RojoSanIchiban@lemmy.world

Removed Comment It's kind of hilarious how you chucklefucks knit together your justification for being anti-abortion out of bits and pieces of unrelated passages from a book that talks in great detail about God murdering humans and ordering humans to murder other humans again and again. Noah's ark? The plagues? Isaac? Sodom & Gomorrah? Those 40-something kids that God sent bears after when they made fun of that one dude's baldness? Fucking Job? There's no hypocrisy like Christian hypocrisy. That's for damned sure. by bucho@lemmy.one
