Removed Comment no, I prefer "propaganda" as a term for all media, including"news" outlets I prefer an agree with. you don't know what their motivations are, and there is no reason (except personal bias) for you to presume their actual meaning is what you think you would have meant had you been the commenter. by NSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Removed Comment Don't gaslight. This may not be the right instance for you. We expect people to actually be nice, not go through mental gymnastics to claim being provocative is actually being nice. If you're used to being contrarian for its own sake because, "fuck it, it's the internet and no one is real," there are loads of other platforms for this take. by Powderhorn@beehaw.org

I'm extra nice. by NSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Removed Comment Because "propaganda" is usually used in a political context. Sure, advertising is technically propaganda, but you'd call it advertising if you meant that. by Azzu@lemm.ee

Removed Comment >So what's the "second of all"? scientism, a link to Cambridge University site indicates they are pushing Cambridge asa reliable source of information, and the times itself is advertising paid reprints on that page. not too mention the ads they are running on it, and the title of the author: "health and blah blah blah" . it's that five propaganda angles I've identified so far? how many angles does a propaganda piece need to have before it becomes propaganda? by NSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Removed Comment True, but I'm sure that wasn't meant by the person I originally responded to. So what's the "second of all"? Can you even name any more, even if you said "first of all", as if there were more agendas that you already knew? If you already know more agendas, why didn't you list them? If you don't know more, why did you make it seem like there are more? by Azzu@lemm.ee

Removed Comment it's a term from video gaming. behind the scenes, touchscreen keyboards will change the size of keys based on predictive text. it's invisible to the user but helps raise their accuracy somewhat. unless you meant to write "pit" and they grew the hitbox of the "u" because they thought you were writing "put" for example. by NSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.com
