I'm a guy, but if I had an answer for that, I wouldn't be here answering this question.

Friendly reminder: if you take stimulants, you NEED to take Magnesium, too!!
reason: Post is removed because we cannot tell people to take supplements due to potential drug interactions. Feel free to re-post with a title advising to talk to one's doctor about magnesium.

Can I bring up, on the other hand, too many people now take their diagnosis as a reason to be assholes and not improve themselves. You gotta live in the world that exists, not the one you wish for. Shit is hard. I have a middle aged cousin with severe, untreated autism and he had to learn to live alone, get a job, pay rent, etc. Many parents now get their child's diagnosis and stop trying to make the kids succeed

Come on, most people have troubles starting organised and managing their time, and lots of people hate themselves because of it. That's why it's such a fraught issue.

Sharing commonalities is fine. Sharing common experiences as they related to a mental diagnosis is fine. Saying “that ADHD feeling when you have a 3 PM appointment and check the clock 10 times to make sure you won’t be late!” Is making ADHD out to be something which is just a common real world experience. In doing so it makes a shit ton of people think they have ADHD when they don’t, and it makes it more difficult for people who actually do have ADHD to get appropriate treatment and diagnosis. Unfortunately, a great deal of people have co-opted legitimate mental illness to essentially either 1. Have something to identify with or 2. Get out of real world responsibilities. “It’s not my fault I failed the test and didn’t turn in that report at work, I just have ADHD! The posts online talking about being nervous for midday appointments said so!”

People self-diagnosing young children with ADHD is the dumbest thing. Children are full of energy and easily distracted, people! That's their whole thing!

Maybe because other people would assume you have agency and can judge for yourself what's healthy for you? It's not up to anyone else to decide how hard you want to work.

My wife thinks she has ADHD and started seeing a therapist. She told the therapist during her first visit "I think I have ADHD" and the therapist was like "ok here's a script for Adderall." No screening or test or anything. This is the reason there is a shortage and an increase in ADHD diagnoses.

I do. Ones that don't hide their lifelong lack of accountability and stunted maturation behind a legitimate disorder. This has nothing to do with ADHD. It's just a sheltered lazy person living like an 11 year old without shame.

...It's concerning how juvenile and immature adults are becoming. If you have to pretend to be a tiger in order to clean your fucking apartment as a grown ass woman, something went seriously wrong with your development. Get off the internet and grow up.
