A few weeks ago, I ran a workshop for an online fitness group, on the benefit of the great outdoors and when revisiting all of the research, I stumbled upon a really inspiring large-scale study done in Canada called the ’30 x 30 Nature Challenge’.
This simple nationwide challenge resulted in hugely positive increases in wellbeing for its hundreds of thousands of participants.
To get these benefits, all they had to do was spend 30 minutes in nature.
I was so inspired by this study that I did my own 30 x 30 Nature Challenge, combining it with activity on most days, from a walk in local fields, hopping on a bike for a short ride to just running around the garden with the kids.
Even though I generally take any opportunity to get out into nature, I’ve still felt a huge benefit from the intentional daily ‘nature’ of doing this for 30 days.
Below are what seem to be the 10 biggest benefits of spending time in nature, which all come from multiple studies on this subject and I’m sure I’ve experienced all of them in the last few weeks!
