Abstract
This chapter focuses on what Aristotle, in Posterior Analytics 1.1, calls the aporêma of the Meno. It also discusses related passages, especially in Prior Analytics 2.21 and Posterior Analytics 2.19. In discussing these passages, the chapter considers how Aristotle’s notion of intellectual learning compares with Plato’s notion of inquiry and learning. It also discusses Aristotle’s account of our cognitive development from perception, to memory, experience and knowledge; and considers whether he is an innatist.
