Abstract

“Climate Change and the Future of Humanity” concludes the book by putting modern energy (volts or E) at the heart of a story about human liberation. Like E, we too can experience a shape-shifting, transgressive “morphological freedom.” Energy can blast us off from humanism to transhumanism. The chapter imagines a conversation between the orthodox and heterodox voices. At issue is whether we are progressing or running faster and faster to stay in the same place. The chapter ends with brief remarks about the coronavirus pandemic and climate change.
