- Global Chapters -

OBJECTIVES

The purpose of our global chapters is to advocate for those with Parkinson’s and provide supportive services to caregivers, people with Parkinson’s and also healthcare providers.

A diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease can be very overwhelming and stressful. Our chapters provide a safe space in which people with Parkinson’s, caregivers, members of the community and healthcare providers can have open discussions about shared experiences, coping mechanisms, and ways to educate their own community about Parkinson’s.

START YOUR OWN CHAPTER

The World Parkinson’s Program has active chapters in 22 countries, 39 locations, globally led by community volunteers, qualified neurologists/healthcare providers, caregivers or people with Parkinson’s. The World Parkinson’s Program supports global chapter leaders by providing guidelines on how to start a chapter, arranging lectures about Parkinson’s disease, providing educational brochures on various aspects of Parkinson’s disease in the local languages, and referring chapter leads to our Services team if there is a local need.

A WPP Global Chapter can be started by community volunteers, healthcare workers, healthcare institutions, passionate students, or those impacted by Parkinson’s disease. You can hold a Chapter meeting anywhere in your community, including but not limited to: restaurants, schools, churches, temples, mosques, community centers, libraries or local parks.
