My Gotcha Day and Other News

Hello, friends!  I'm so sorry we've fallen out of the blogosphere.  It's been a busy year, and there is so much to share.  I'm not sure where to start.

I'll start by saying that today is my 3rd GOTCHA DAY! I'm so happy I was gotted.  My mom and I are real buds - I'm always watching out for her and giving her cuddles and swats!  We talk a lot.  Having a forever home is the best!

In some sad news, my sister Fuzzy went to the Bridge last month.  She had an eventful couple of months.  She had surgery to have a tumor removed from her side, but she recovered like a champ from that!  But a couple of weeks later, her poor little kidneys just almost stopped working.  My mom made the decision to help her to the Bridge, but it made her cry a lot.  We miss Fuzzy bunches, but we know it was the kindest thing to do for her.

Now that Fuzzy is gone, I don't get to eat as much Fancy Feast!  I still scream for it, but I don't get it three times a day.  Heck, sometimes I don't even get it once a day!  And I don't get other treats on demand either.  My mom and I will have to discuss this sometime soon, during one of our evening chats.  At least I still get plenty of lap time and cuddles and brushies and petties.  And I took over Fuzzy's spot on the pillow next to my mom's in bed, so that's good too.

Sorry for no photo.  My mom almost FORGOT my gotcha day, so I made her type up a quick blog while she's at work.  I'll try to write more soon and let you know if anything else goes on at the OK Cat's House.  Love you all!

Love, Zoe

Fantastic Friday

Hi Friends!  First, let me say a big fat THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by last week to wish me a happy birthday and a happy gotcha day!  Being 17 doesn't feel any different than being 16, but this year wasn't as big of a let down as last year - I really, really wanted a car when I turned 16.  Anyway, life is good, and our friends rock!

And today is MY birthday - I'm SIX!  My mom has kitten pictures that were given to her from the shelter, but she broke my little orange heart by not scanning them in so I could show you all my baby pictures.  It's ok, though, because now that I'm SIX, I have to learn to accept disappointments like a big girl.  Y'all are welcome to come over if you want!  We can play chase or play with mousies or whatever you want to do!  Our mom is gone until at least 7, so we gots all day!

You'll see that we failed to keep the promise of showing new photos.... we swear on a bag of Temptations that we'll post some brand new ones this weekend or we're going to throw our mom out of a basement window.

Have a super duper weekend, friends!!!!

Just Another Sunday

Hi, Friends!  Well, it looks like we're still not back to regular blogging or visiting, but we wanted to say hi!  And I wanted to show you a picture of ME so you could see that our mom did NOT trade us in for a dog.  See me smiling at you?
Hmmm, maybe that's not a good picture.  Here's a closeup...
So, let's see, what's up... Fuzzy already told you this is the year of "ME", - for our mom, at least.  She's spending her nights at a gym trying to stop being fat, doing yoga or cardio or other things that make her hobble around the house like a broken down geezer.  And she got a new job, but with her same company, so she's been busy wrapping up things from her old position and trying to learn what her new job even IS!  But the worst part is she may have to travel across an ocean or two to India at the end of the month.  We'll definitely keep you posted on that - there will be a house trashing party of the highest magnitude if she leaves.

As for the important stuff - me and Fuzzy - we're both fantastic.  Our birthdays are both this month.  I'll be SIX!  Fuzzy's 16th Gotcha Day is also this month (we don't really know when her birthday is, so we say that her birthday is 1 year before her Gotcha Day - she'll be 17!).  Both of us are in good health and are being really good girls!

So, what's new with YOU?

Easy Like Sunday

Hello, Friends!  Sorry, no photos, but hey, it's a start!  We know we've missed so much that has gone on in the Blogosphere, and we're terribly sorry.  We just got overwhelmed and had to disconnect from everything for a while.

Now we have a new year and a new attitude!  There are some changes here that we hope will be good.  First and foremost, our mom has sworn that she will not be on any committees, boards, or anything else for one year, work or otherwise.  She had become a totally crabby pants with so many things going on.  This year is the year of ME, well, HER, I guess.  And we're ok with that, because part of that includes US!  Yep, we're going to get to blog again!  It won't be every day - we're not exactly sure yet how often it will be.  And we won't get to visit every day, but we are going to try to visit at least once a week, if not more often.  It all depends on that darned schedule she's planning.

Anyway, we're all fine.  I, Fuzzy, am doing fantastic - especially for a girl going on 17!  Zoe is also doing well, but she's getting yelled at a lot.  I kind of feel sorry for her - she doesn't mean to be bad, she just is!  We'll try to put up some pictures on our next post.  We hope you'll all forgive us for being bad blogging friends.  Until next time!

Easy Like Sunday

Hi, Friends!  Long time no see!  Our mom has been working overtime on some extra projects at work, so we don't get to see her much.  And I feel like a broken record, saying again and again that we're sorry for not visiting, sorry for not posting, sorry for being crappy blogging friends.  Hopefully one day we'll be able to be better bloggers.

We had a couple of comments and emails checking on us - we had an EARTHQUAKE last night!  Fuzzy was already upstairs in bed, and I was downstairs with my mom, snoopervising her as she looked through some papers when our entire home started shaking!  My mom and I looked at each other, then I turned and hauled tail up the stairs as fast as I could!  I, erm, had to check on Fuzzy, you know *cough*.  The shaking lasted FOREVER!  What, Mom?  Oh, it was only 45 seconds.  Well, anyway, everything is ok.  No damage was done or anything - we were about 100 miles from the epicenter.  But it was exciting!  And thank you, Friends, for checking on us - you are the best!

Hope y'all have a super Easy Sunday!!

Easy Like Sunday, the Saturday Edition

We both let our mom take photos of us yesterday while we were taking it easy.  You know how bad we've been slacking at posting, so we thought we'd better take our opportunity to post our "Easy" shots when we got the chance.  Here is me, all SEVEN pounds of me in a teeny tiny warm kitty ball.
And here is ME, chilling in one of my bajillion beds.  This one is inches away from the radiator space heater.
My mom spoke to the vet yesterday, and we're not going to do the surgery to remove my little growth.  The cardiologist said my EKG results could mean a couple of different things, so nothing was conclusive.  The very nice vet said that because of my age, he didn't want to stress me out with more tests, and without really knowing what was or wasn't going on with my heart, he really didn't want to put me under.  My mom thinks she's somehow going to be able to take a better look at that spot and see for herself what's going on.  I don't think so.  I'm not bothered by it - I don't pick at it or anything.  And I'm acting the same as I always have - I sleep a lot, I run, I play, I purr.  So there is nothing to worry about. :)  Thank you all for the purrs, though - it really meant a lot to me.  I would request that you direct all purrs to Miss Parker.  She's just a young thing and her vet results were not as good as mine.  We're both sending all of our purrs to her and her family.

Have a super weekend, Friends!

Fuzzy's Vet Report

My Vet Report
by Fuzzy

Sorry I have no photo to show you - I refuse to pose for my mom after being abandoned at the vet for 4 hours.  But guess what?  I got a good report!  My bloods are perfect!  My EKG was a little wonky, but that is probably from being stressed out.  The results are being sent over to a cardiologist to check them out, just in case.

Fuzzy had an anal probe!

Zoe, STOP SAYING THAT!  I did not have an anal probe.  I had to have my *anal glands* expressed.  But... are you ready for the best news???  I gained TWO POUNDS!  That may not sound like a lot, but I gained 40% of my body weight in just a few months!  I was 5 pounds at my last senior exam (which my mom cannot remember when it was, but it was this year).  Now I weigh 7.2 pounds!  Yay!

For a while now, I have had this little knot on my side.  At my last visit, the vet said it was a clogged oil gland (we think - we forget details sometimes).  It has changed over the last month or so, but I will not let my mom look at it.  I also would not let the vet look at it!  But I am scheduled to go in next Wednesday and have it removed, as long as the cardiologist doesn't think my EKG is bad.  We're not really worried, this will be a piece of cake.  I may also get my teef cleaned - I tried to bite the vet when he wanted to look at them this morning. hehe

Zoe's Vet Report

My Vet Report
by Zoe
I weigh 11.72 pounds.  That's one pound more that last year and almost 3 pounds more than when I was adopted 2 years ago.  So what?

I am very healthy!  My heart sounds good and I don't have werms.  I don't need an anal probe.  What, Mom?  Oh, sorry, I don't need my anal glands expressed.  I just scootch my bum across the floor to keep my floofy pants clean.  So what?

Fuzzy goes for her senior exam on Thursday.  She probably will need an anal probe.  What, Mom?  Sorry.  Fuzzy will probably need her anal glands expressed.

I am so very thankful and happy that SO MANY friends stopped by like TEN days ago to wish me a happy gotcha day!  We were trying to get around to thank everyone, but we don't seem to get very far each day.  We're so very sorry - we promise we will visit all of you eventually. Our mom will wrap up one of the things that has been occupying her time and mind tomorrow (hopefully), so we're hoping she'll be a little more accommodating after that!

Super Sunday

One of my first photos in my Forever Home!
Hi Everybuddy!  Guess what!!!  Today is my GOTCHA DAY!  Two years ago today, I came to live in my forever home!  Instead of sharing a place with 30+ other cats and having several nice ladies come visit me every day, I came to live in a place with only 1 other cat and only 1 lady to come see me every day!  I have all of the food I could ever possibly eat, tons of toys, lots of nice places to sleep, and no cats who bop me on the head!  I also don't have to live with any pesky kittens that I need to bop on the head to keep in line.  And just as good as all of those other things, I have a blog and LOTS of super duper friends from all over the world!  Life is good when you're gotted!

Thankful Thursday

Hello, Friends!  Remember me?  It's me, Fuzzy!  Just chillin' in the dirty laundry pile.  I'm a very thankful girl today, for many reasons.  I have a home where I get plenty of food and love, I have very, VERY good friends who stop by to say 'hi' and who crack us up almost every day we're allowed to visit, and last but not least, we got an award!!

Our very talented, sweet, and hilarious friends, Goro and Niko gave us this really cool award like a million sleeps ago.  We are supposed to say what we wish for the most in the world.  Now, this is tough, because there are obviously so many things that we wish - for all animals to have a safe home with plenty of food, for all of our friends to be happy and healthy, and so many other things.  Then there are the selfish wishes - for our mom to help us with our blog more, for Fancy Feast every night, for no more sucky monsters disrupting naps, you get the picture.  I can't make just one wish!!!  And I can't even be as clever as Niko and Goro when they were telling their mom about their wishes, either.  Well, I'll make a little wish for myself, but I'll use the bigger part of my wish to wish for peace, happiness, and love to all of our friends and other animals of the world.  My little wish for myself is a good senior exam.  It's coming up in the next few weeks.  It was two years ago yesterday that we said goodbye to my brother, Snuggles, and I don't think my mom is up to saying goodbye to another friend anytime soon.  So, a good report back from the vet about me would be pretty nice.

We're supposed to pass this on, but honestly, we've not been able to visit much so we have no clue who has received this award.  If anyone would like to take this award and share your wishes, we'd be super excited!!  Thank you, Goro and Niko, for giving this award and for being such funny, sweet guys.  We love you both!

Love, Fuzzy
