FEB 17, 2026 UPDATE: 3600+ Chicagoans from 55+ ZIPs have added their names to our petition. Block Club Chicago reported that “Ald. Daniel La Spata said Coco and Serve Robotics won’t expand service in the 1st Ward.” A recent episode of Block Club's Podcast featured our movement, which was also the focus of a front page story in the Chicago Tribune and pieces in Fast Company and the Chicago Sun-Times. The Economist has also picked up the story. In our 2/10 newsletter, we shared that some of the now 900+ who've used the petition's Incident field are reporting collisions or other troubling contact, accessibility issues, and/or obstruction and provided some example quotes.
JAN 2026 UPDATE: Be sure to also use the new 311 option to submit complaints directly to the city. In our 1/7 newsletter, we shared that some have used our petition's own Incident field to express concerns about potential surveillance.DEC 2025 UPDATES (consolidated): Block Club Chicago, ABC7 Chicago, and NBC Chicago reported on the story, and we were on WGN Radio 720 at 5:20pm on Dec 8. Other outlets picked it up. In our 12/12 newsletter, we shared a few of the incident reports we've received that mention robot interference with emergency vehicles.NOV 2025 UPDATES (consolidated): We crossed 1000 on Thanksgiving Day (we were aiming for 250)! Our cause was featured on CBS Chicago's 6pm News on Nov 25! We started sending snapshots of the responses to some aldermen on Nov 20, with quick preliminary responses.OCT 2025 UPDATE: Now two robot companies (Coco and Serve) are operating on our city sidewalks. More to come? Transparency and a hearing matter even more.
