The Tigers have made few changes to their jersey look over the years - BUT the jersey D logo has been changed 25 times before settling on the current logo in 1961, the cap logo has been changed 29 times. And still the cap and jersey logos don't match.

1901-02

Home white, road grey. "DETROIT" in navy block on home shirt, in orange on road. Orange tiger on the cap.

1903

Navy "D" on home jersey pocket, orange "D" on road. Plain caps.

1904

Plain white home jersey. Old English "D" on grey road jersey. Plain caps.

1905-06

Old English "D" and a blue collar added to white home jersey. Road jersey is navy. White pinstriped caps with "D" logo.

1907

Road jerseys change to grey with navy collar and navy pinstiped cap. New English D design.

Spalding

1908

Old English D is redesigned.

1909-11

Another English D design.

1912-13

Pinstripes added to home jersey. Collars are no longer navy.

1914

Pinstripes dropped from home jersey. Road jersey "D" changes and doesn't match the home "D". Blue ring collars added to both. Caps are solid navy.

1915

Pinstripes added to home shirt. Road jersey "D" is enlarged. Later in the year, the road jersey logo is changed to a block "D". Cap logo changed to block "D".

1915-16

Road jersey logo changed to block "D" later in 1915. Home jersey logo changed to a thinner block "D", probably in 1916.

1917

Pinstripes dropped from home shirt and white collar returns. Old English "D" returns to jerseys and caps. Design is different on home and road jerseys. US flag patch on road shirt.

1918-20

Stylized D logo and home jerseys get pinstripes. Placket piping added to road jersey.

Home cap changes to white with navy pinstripes in 1920.

1921-22

Old English "D" returns.

Spalding

1923-24

Blue collars added to home and road jerseys. The D gets thinner.

Wilson

1925

Home jersey loses the pinstripes. Both jerseys get placket and collar piping. Yet another "D" style.

1926

Home jersey regains the pinstripes in place of placket piping. Another new logo style.

Spalding

1927

Orange joins the colorway. A Tiger logo is used, and it's different on home and road jerseys. Cap logo changed to orange.

1928

On home jerseys, the Old English "D" returns, pinstripes are dropped, and the cap logo returns to white. Road jerseys have "TIGERS" in orange with navy trim, and a tiger logo on the back.

Horace Partridge

Tiger was removed from the back of this jersey

1929

Orange trim added jerseys. Road jersey regains the "D" logo, but it's different from the home shirt. Home cap is white, road grey with pinstripes.

Spalding

1930

Plain white home, grey road with "Detroit" in script.

Spalding

1931

Pinstripes added to both jerseys. Home script is navy, road is orange. Cap logo is orange. Numbers added to jersey backs during the season.

1932-33

Road script changed to navy, cap logos change to white.

Spalding

1934-37

Pinstripes dropped in favor of placket piping. Old English "D" returns again to home jersey. Road script is thickened.

Grey alternate road cap worn in 1935.
