This is what I’m up to as of January 1st, 2026
- I am planning to write my first novel since 2017. I’ve got the general shape of the story worked out, just need to nail down the specifics.
- I am creating a parser-based interactive fiction tutorial blog series, and a game development in godot tutorial blog series.
- I am working on Retromancer, a longer-scoped game in godot. Set in the 1970s, it follows a FCC Agent investigating anomalous videogames, and features minigames based on the games of the era.
- I have been unemployed since July 2024, and our savings are set to run out in a matter of months. While I am still looking for work, I have a few side-lines to bring in money.
- I had been acting as caregiver for my partner following her spinal surgery in mid-November 2025. This had taken up most of my time, but I am grateful for the opportunity to manifest compassion.
- I’ve started two side-blogs. BASIC Code is a place where I can post BASIC type-in games that can be played in a browser. SGDF is Small Games Done Fast, my various short game jam, mini game, and other noncommercial game projects.
- Transitioned my books from Amazon to a shop hosted here
- I am going to convert one old laptop into a deep storage device, and another into a home server for some reason.
- Kathy Rain 2, a game that I did some narrative design work for has been released.
- I still live in Chicago with my girlfriend and our cats, Sidhe and Fog. We’re all unemployed at the moment.
- I’ve picked up a copy of Stephen King’s “Bag of Bones” to try and get myself back into the habit of reading again. Thus far I have yet to accomplish this.
- I’ve deleted my Twitter, don’t post to facebook, and am trying to be more active on Mastodon. I am currently posting to Bluesky, where my account has somehow accrued 2k followers.
