Sachin, Sculpted! Tendulkar's Life-Sized Statue Unveiled At Wankhede
Wednesday saw a heady crowd at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. A life-sized bronze statue of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled on the eve of the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, flanked by Tendulkar and his wife Anjali, along with Sharad Pawar and Rajiv Shukla, revealed the statue.
Renowned painter-sculptor Pramod Kamble from Ahmednagar, has brought to life Tendulkar in a timeless pose. The cricketer is seen in his trademark pose: lofted drive with his left leg extended, body slightly bent, head held high, and bat pointing at the sky.
This pose, chosen from thousands of action images, resonates with fans who have witnessed the Master Blaster's remarkable career spanning over two decades.
It was a family moment. The ace cricketer-turned-commentator was accompanied by his wife Anjali and daughter Sara, even as chants of "Sachin, Sachin" from his fans created a frenzy.
Originally planned for Tendulkar's 50th birthday in April, the unveiling was postponed as it still needed some finishing touches.
