Design Updates & More

Starting this month, we are taking things up a notch. Due to the increasing number of 1920x1080 (16:9) users based on our audience's device usage, we have adjusted the width of our layout resolutions from 1200px to 1440px. These changes impact table-less designs created earlier this year. Layouts coded in tables will not be updated until they are redesigned in the future, at which point they will be converted to DIV-based layouts.

While we still appreciate the simplicity of older static designs that only required a 1024px width, it’s clear that these designs and contents are becoming too small on modern screens.

We are also considering implementing responsive design practices to ensure a seamless experience across all devices. By focusing on a variety of screen resolutions and adopting a responsive design strategy, we can create more versatile and user-friendly websites.
    Listing Admin Modifications/Upgrades
  • Assigned links such as owned FLs, joined FLs, and collective affiliates as IDs; appended them as query parameters to the URL (Enamour only)
  • Updated and added current country names for 2025 (Enamour only)
  • Fixed issues with certain keywords in approval and update confirmation emails, which were previously malfunctioning

  • Apache Update
  • Mod Rewrite has been implemented in all fanlistings' .htaccess files to create a "cleaner look" for the URLs.

  • Credits Directory
  • The URL for the Credits Directory has been shortened to https://cr.aelysia.net

  • Clique Codes
  • We have implemented the animated collapse JavaScript plugin for codes used on cliques via I Choose You and Exvius. The anchors are used as triggers mapped to specific elements that can be toggled. This feature helps users avoid scrolling through long lists, making navigation more efficient.

Land of the Rising Sun

A new month brings with it the opportunity for a fresh start. While my updates have been somewhat infrequent, it seems they’ve become a rare occurrence—either once a month or not at all. Admittedly, my modus operandi have slowed in recent times, and along the way, I lost some of the joy I once had in the process. Currently, I'm working through a substantial backlog of tasks.

New Fanlisting
A few days ago, I was approved to launch a new fanlisting. To my surprise, it seems that no one has shown interest in this subject in years, so I decided to apply impulsively.
  1. Japan - Referring back to the previous update on my spring vacation, my last visit to Japan was approximately 12 years ago. Even after all this time, there is still so much to explore and learn about Japan, especially considering how little I knew of Japanese culture at the time of my visit.
Layout Archive
I’ve recently updated our layout archive with all the latest designs. While this section usually goes under the radar, the large number of new layouts released this year prompted me to make sure they were added. Cerine and I want to ensure that no designs go untracked, as we occasionally overlook one or two without a thorough review.

Directory Collective
The directory has also undergone an update, with several collectives being added and outdated ones removed. I have also redesigned and updated the buttons, as the previous ones were outdated and hastily created. The size of the 88x15 buttons has been reduced to 80x15 on the links page. Additionally, the animations for the pixels have been slowed down, making them less intense compared to the previous versions.

Cloudplane's New Design

Day offs are always a welcome respite from the demands of hectic work shifts, assignments, and other ongoing responsibilities. While much has transpired over the past week since my last update, certain experiences are difficult to fully capture in words. Nevertheless, I will summarize the most pertinent developments.

A new design has recently been implemented at Cloudplane. After careful consideration of previous attempts to refine the site’s appearance, it became clear that incremental “fixes” were insufficient, resembling a band-aid on a wound that never fully healed. The decision to adopt a second layout arose almost spontaneously, inspired by discovering an image that aligned perfectly with the directory’s name.

This new layout marks the second occasion in some time that I have employed a fully table-less, DIV-based coding structure. Reacquainting myself with modern, table-less design required some adjustment, as I had become somewhat out of practice. Additionally, I am mindful that my familiarity with contemporary GUI trends and coding practices is not entirely current. Despite these challenges, the resulting layout prioritizes simplicity and ease of navigation.

Alongside the visual update, the directory has undergone structural revisions, including updates to the rules and About sections, as well as the removal of inactive or broken links.
