Preparing for EC Admin notifications of new NomCom appointees to the ICANN Board

Dear members of the Empowered Community Administration, Please be informed that the Nominating Committee (NomCom) is preparing to finalize its selections to the ICANN Board of Directors, for the terms commencing at the end of ICANN60. Under the ICANN Bylaws, the NomCom is obliged to provide you, as the Empowered Community Administration, with notice of these appointments; following which you are required to notify the ICANN Secretary (with copy to all five Decisional Participants) of the appointments. Staff notes that you have sent previously similar notifications with respect to the ccNSO and GNSO appointments of new Board members. Unless you have objections, we suggest using the same form for the NomCom notifications. Here is a copy of those recent notifications: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/bm/secretarys-notice-redacted-23may17…. You will see that the text is brief and straightforward, and can be used for the NomCom appointments with the following modifications: “The Empowered Community, pursuant to Section 7.8 of the ICANN Bylaws, and in accordance with a notice received from the [Nominating Committee] under Section [7.8(c)] of the ICANN Bylaws, hereby designates [NAMES] to sit on Seat [NUMBERS] of the ICANN Board for the term beginning at the conclusion of ICANN's Annual Meeting in [2018].” We will be sure to let you know once the NomCom announces its appointments.
