Make polluters worldwide pay for a greener future
Make polluters worldwide pay for a greener future
The world's most polluting companies are actively working to block climate action – all for the sake of profit. We've had enough. From extreme weather to energy and food prices, the climate emergency’s impact is global. And worldwide, the people least responsible are hit hardest. Why should we pay for the impacts of the climate crisis while those responsible continue to profit and pollute? Big polluters must use their big profits to pay for the damage they’ve done. That's why, alongside organisations like Greenpeace, we're supporting a Polluters Pay Pact.
Make 2026 the year polluters clean up their act
Make 2026 the year polluters clean up their act
Last year, the government promised to crack down on water pollution. But without public pressure, its plans could once again let big polluters off the hook. We should all be able to enjoy clean lakes, rivers and seas bursting with wildlife. But in too many places across the country, that’s far from reality. Whether it’s water companies pumping sewage into our seas, toxic slurry from factory farms or forever chemicals seeping into waterways – polluters are still contaminating our water. Meanwhile, our bills keep rising, while shareholders pocket massive profits.

Stop secret corporate courts rewarding climate wreckers
Stop secret corporate courts rewarding climate wreckers
Community action put a stop to plans for a climate-wrecking coal mine in Cumbria, but now secret corporate courts are allowing the profiteers behind the mine to sue the government for millions. Just for saying no to dirty coal. Polluters should never be able to stand in the way of a cleaner future – but “Investor-State Dispute Settlement” (ISDS) courts let them. This case could leave UK taxpayers footing a huge payout. And it's not just this case – these secret corporate courts allow companies to threaten climate action everywhere. The UK can escape this unfair secret system.
Tell Rachel Reeves: don’t put plane profits before planet
Tell Rachel Reeves: don’t put plane profits before planet
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has backed airport expansion while we're in a climate emergency. Expanding airports like Heathrow, Luton and Gatwick won’t do much, if anything, for the communities that need growth the most. Instead, benefits will be enjoyed by shareholders and the wealthiest few who fly frequently. Airport expansions mean more subsidies for a heavily polluting industry - when we desperately need to be doing all we can to reduce emissions.
Make companies pay for exploiting people and planet
Make companies pay for exploiting people and planet
Greedy UK companies are wrecking the world’s forests through their international supply chains. Last year was the hottest on record, yet global deforestation - one of the leading causes of climate breakdown - continues to rise.

Defend the right to protest
Defend the right to protest
Our right to peaceful protest is under attack, at a critical time for us to speak up about the climate crisis and environmental justice. We must act now to defend our right to protest. The previous government gave police broad powers over peaceful demonstrations, restricting "noisy" protests or branding those standing up for the planet as a "public nuisance". Jail time for such actions was unheard of until recently, but it's now increasingly common.

Tell Keir Starmer to make the fracking ban permanent
Tell Keir Starmer to make the fracking ban permanent
Nigel Farage's Reform party has declared it wants to “drill baby drill” if it wins the next general election. There’s a temporary pause on fracking in England, but it’s not even written into law. So it would be all too easy for any future government to allow fracking to start again. This would put England at risk of environmental degradation and earthquakes caused by drilling. And set back the fight against climate breakdown. The rise of Reform highlights how urgent it is to get hard-won and popular environmental protections locked in law.

Demand real protection from extreme weather for everyone
Demand real protection from extreme weather for everyone
Floods. Coastal erosion. Droughts. Wildfires. Homes destroyed. Lives shattered. Climate breakdown isn’t a distant threat. It’s happening now, and communities across the UK are on the frontlines. No one is safe from extreme weather, but those most at risk – disabled people, older people, those on low incomes – are hit hardest. Yet our politicians are failing us. Some drag their feet. Others deny the crisis entirely. Excuses are putting more lives, homes and livelihoods on the line. This isn’t just negligence – it’s a moral failure.

How can I make the environmental movement more trans and non-binary inclusive? | Friends of the Earth
Environmental activism operates in a political space, impacted by the government, media and public opinion among other things. To campaign for the planet effectively, we need to create a fairer world for all, especially those with marginalised identities like trans and non-binary people. Find out how you can be a better trans ally in the fight for people and planet.
