I'm a queer disabled author and medievalist, currently based in Cambridge. My debut novel, The Butterfly Assassin, is a YA thriller about a traumatised teenage assassin trying and failing to live a normal life in a fictional closed city in Yorkshire. It was published in May 2022 by Simon & Schuster, followed by The Hummingbird Killer in May 2023 and Moth to a Flame in May 2024. My first adult novel, The Wolf & His King, will be published by Gollancz in November 2025 (and in the US by Erewhon in January 2026). I got out of the habit of adding to my recommendation lists here for a while, so they're mostly somewhat out of date, but I'm working on adding new ones.

I'm a writer and medievalist, and on this channel I retell medieval Irish stories with lots of sarcasm and over-enthusiastic hand gestures. Currently a PhD student at the University of Cambridge researching friendship in the late Ulster Cycle. Videos are infrequent due to the aforementioned PhD, my chronic illnesses, and my writing commitments. My books: THE BUTTERFLY ASSASSIN trilogy (The Butterfly Assassin, The Hummingbird Killer, Moth to a Flame), published by Simon & Schuster; THE WOLF AND HIS KING, a Bisclavret retelling, coming 2025 from Gollancz; THE ANIMALS WE BECAME, a retelling of the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi, coming 2026 from Gollancz; TO RUN WITH THE HOUND, an Ulster Cycle retelling, coming 2027 from Gollancz.
