This is a pretty good book store with an incredible bookstore buried somewhere inside it. They have a *great* selection of penguin and vintage editions of classics, as well as stacks of Everyman hardbacks that made my mouth water, and of course good sections on religion and spirituality and general fiction and non fiction. But the sheer excess of books, mostly in precarious unorganized stacks which block the bottom two rows of shelves, makes browsing difficult and frustrating. One of the aisles was even completely blocked by boxes and boxes of books to be shelved. Often I eventually found a book or author I was looking for in a random stack far from its alphabetical home. So, a reduction of the number of books to fit the space, and a little extra care in alphabetizing/section organizing would make this book store excellent. All that said, I went to pretty much every bookstore in Kathmandu and this is the best one.
One of the best book store in Nepal. I found my long searched book which i wanted almost for 2 years in Nepal but couldn't find anywhere also i knew about BIBLONEPAL and add request and within the month i got that book. also customer service is responsive and delivery is fast even out of valley, Also offers good pricing and offers. "BIBLIONEPAL FOR BIBLIOPHILE"
I wondered into this little bookstore the way a tired lady wonders into shade, by accident and by need. Outside, the streets were rattling and buzzing, selling its noise to anyone who would listen. Inside, there was only paper, patience and voices on print. There were books everywhere. Not only did books rose from shelves, but spilled on the floor, climbed beam and ceiling, leaned into corners, settled onto steps and stair. Every nook and niche was holding onto something. My heart soared when I saw the tower of Penguin Classics and the sturdy rows of Everyman’s Library. My 11-year-old son, equally chuffed, asked what it would feel like to sleep in such a space. I pondered: if one could find Lispector and Unearthed in the same space, this cove has got to be something! In all seriousness, if you love the classics, and rare titles, and the mainstream, and the award-winning ones as well, Nepal Book Depot will not disappoint. Also best antidote from Thamel’s chaos.
