Black TransATLiens is a loose collective of (mostly) Atlanta-based Black trans folks ages 18+ engaged in community through a virtual peer support space, WhatsApp chat, and Discord server. While the original group is Atlanta-based, because we are a largely virtual community, there are no restrictions on what location folks can join from, so long as they are Black and trans / gender-expansive / non-cisgender. This is the interest form for Black trans and Black non-cis people who want to participate in Black TransATLiens groups. Upon vetting, you will receive a follow-up email with pertinent information.

My name is V Starks (he/they), and for the past three years, I have stewarded ATL Trans Guide and its affiliated community, Black TransATLiens. What began as a fellowship assignment — the development of The Essentials: Atlanta Trans Resource Guide, volume 1 — has evolved further than I could have ever imagined. As of this writing, ATL Trans Guide / Black TransATLiens has grown to include a virtual Black trans peer support space, Black transgender studies group, and mutual aid work. I have met a number of wonderful trans people through this project, from across the US to the continent of Africa. And I appreciate the trust and support from community members that has sustained us.I am excited to, alongside deeply trusted comrades, invite you to support the next stage of this work: Black Trans Solidarity Fund.

I am a Black autistic nonbinary man of Jamaican heritage currently navigating housing instability and underemployment in Atlanta, Georgia. I am seeking funds for support with housing and various living expenses. I am open to leads on rooms for rent and paid work, as well.Currently, I am working part-time as an administrative assistant. I have experience working in museums, archives, historic preservation, community programs, and education. Also, I am in the last 1.5 years of my master’s degree program at a local historically Black college and university (HBCU).
