In Conversation with Shih-Yu Lin
We sat down with Bright artist [Shih-Yu Lin](https://thebrightagency.com/us/childrens-illustration/artists/shih-yu-lin), an illustrator and creative hailing from central Taiwan. From a young age, Shih-Yu has had a love for drawing and found himself captivated by the play and movement of light and shadow. After graduating in 2017 and now based in London, he has been pursuing his career as an illustrator. Shih-Yu's work is very playful, often filled with rich landscapes and unique, expressive characters. We chatted with Shih-Yu to get a better idea of where he gains his inspiration.

Bright at London Book Fair 2026
This year, the fair carries special significance as part of the National Year of Reading, with a renewed emphasis on reading for pleasure and encouraging children to discover books about the things they love. Across the three days, we noticed a real appetite for a diverse range of niche topics in children’s literature. The message is simple: if you’re into it, read into it!

The Big Bang! for World Book Day 2026
[World Book Day](https://www.worldbookday.com/books/) inspires every child to enjoy the life-changing benefits of reading for fun. This year, [The Big Bang!](https://www.worldbookday.com/books/the-big-bang/), illustrated by [Paddy Donnelly](https://thebrightagency.com/uk/childrens-illustration/artists/paddy-donnelly), is a 2026 World Book Day selection! It is a charming and accessible story about helping others, especially those with disabilities, and helps to teach emotional intelligence in young readers. This is the second title of Paddy's that has been included in the World Book Day initiative. Just last year, the wildly popular [Fox & Son Tailers](https://www.worldbookday.com/books/fox-son-tailers/) was selected as a World Book day title in Paddy's home country of Ireland.

In Conversation With Aishwarya Varadharaj
If you’d asked me a few years ago whether I always wanted to be an illustrator, I probably would have laughed and pointed you toward a stack of architectural drawings. I originally trained as an architect, a field grounded in sketching, design thinking, and problem-solving. Creativity was always part of the process. But illustration was something I did alongside it, quietly and consistently.

Style Trends for 2026, Vicki Willden-Lebrecht
In the creative realm, we are witnessing a shift towards nostalgia, traditional, comfortable and analogue. There is an increasing desire among audiences to buy work that feels safe, familiar and wholesome. A demand for stories that are uplifting, spiritual, with a deeper meaning – dreamy and full of hope. Alongside this sits fantasy, escapism and educational progress.
