How to Curate Photography Gallery Shows & Sequencing Different Photographer's Work with Various Themes (Print Outs Included)
Date: December 3, 2025 Venue: PhotoKTM6 Community Reading Room, Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, Kathmandu This workshop hosted by Worlds Through Minds' Curator Macy Castaneda Lee will talk about event planning & gallery organizing and how to curate other photographers' works in a gallery setting. Curating one's own work is completely different from curating a set of other people's work for a gallery show; this workshop will build very specific insight on what kind of visual works to look out for in a gallery show, and how to sequence different people's work together. Participants will get to play around with various prints and photographs from Worlds Through Minds' contributing photographers from all over the world in this workshop and will get to demo their own personal curation in this space with each other. Date: December 2, 2025 Venue: PhotoKTM6 Community Reading Room, Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, Kathmandu Learn to organize grassroots photography initiatives and curate community-based gallery shows that decentralize Western-dominated photography spaces. This workshop covers event planning, finding collaborators, identifying ideal exhibition spaces, and sourcing photographers for themed shows. The second half includes a practical outdoor portrait session where you'll receive free 35mm B&W Ilford film and learn light metering techniques and post-production editing. We will keep you posted on festival events and happenings so you don't miss out on anything :) PhotoKTM, a small biennial photo festival based in Kathmandu, Nepal that brings together visual practitioners, researchers, educators and cultural organisers particularly from across Southasia, to explore the political lives of images and their place in shaping histories and futures. PhotoKTM is organized by photo.circle which is a community and platform of photographers and other visual practitioners based in Kathmandu. photo.circle also runs Nepal Picture Library which is a digital archive dedicated to documenting, researching and disseminating Nepali social and cultural history. The festival is free and open to the public.
