Studio Notes | 5 Why then do I not sometimes walk there? Questions jump out of texts to me. Whether I read or write them, I certainly wonder about a question far longer than an answer. Questions in the studio operate as an engine, driving me forward, sometimes they keep me idling. As a student in group crits or in studio visits I made it a priority to note down the questions asked. The question has a stability that answers do not. The question stands: the answer is mutable. I have been writing a studio log since 2022. To date 16,000 words written in the third person. A method of detached observation; recording thoughts that arrive and depart all too quickly while working. Looking back I see that the notes are threaded with questions. What would happen if… She wonders why… How could she arrive at…?
