Words Alive in Libraries is a fourth partnership with the South Western Regional Library Service, building on the success of previous writer tours of libraries around the south west.This time, the tour focuses on life writing, wellbeing, and nature. It combines author events with hands-on creative writing and reading workshops, delivered by a fantastic group of authors whose work explores these themes: Arifa Akbar, Jacqueline Crooks, Nathan Filer, Michael Malay, Noreen Masud, Davina Quinlivan, Fiona Robertson, Fiona Williams.

Young Writers' Flash Fiction Competition (enter by 18th May)
Entries are now open to our Young Writers' Flash Fiction Competition, Between the Lines, 2026. If you’re aged between 10 and 18-years, send us your Flash Fiction, 250 or 500-word story. There are two age categories - 10-14 years and 14-18 years – with cash prizes in each category of £200, £100 and £50, plus the chance to be published and to perform your work at Exeter Custom House. We are looking for your inventive story, with a maximum word count of 500 words in the 10-14 year age-category and 250 words in the 14-18 year age-category. The theme this year is 'Between the Lines', you can read more about our thoughts for the theme and some tips to get you started in our flash fiction resource.
