Land Acknowledgement
Our community gardens, office, and preserves throughout Sonoma County are located on the ancestral homelands of the Southern Pomo, Coast Miwok, Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, and Mishewal people, past, present, and future. We recognize them as the first people and the first stewards of this land. We are on occupied territory and acknowledge the ongoing devastation of colonization.

Critter catching with a new friend in the creek at Rancho Mark West. Playing a game of tag in the friendly shelter of a redwood fairy ring. Tucking into dinner, cooked in an outdoor kitchen on the shore of the Russian River, after an afternoon of kayaking. Your gift helps LandPaths grow and sustain scholarships, providing 19 weeks of camp, and guaranteeing experiences like those above (and so many more!) for new and returning campers. $450 sponsors a camper for one full week of camp. Our goal is to raise $300,000 by May 1. Donate today and have twice the impact: The first $60,000 in donations will be matched in memory of Julia Rose Coughlan. Thank you for your generosity and community spirit! Every gift of every size helps get kids outside.

Getting Right with Land, People, and Fire at Ya-Ka-Ama - Click to read the story
Ya-Ka-Ama, an intertribal nonprofit in Sonoma County, California founded in 1971 has a rich history rooted in resiliency and community. From its early stories of occupation to current day commitment to educational and cultural revitalization, this volunteer-led organization is helping to support education around traditional values and culture for all Indigenous people in Sonoma County. In 2025, LandPaths twice had the honor to support land stewardship at Ya-Ka-Ama with Good Fire burn pile days. Our most recent volunteer stewardship day was on December 19, 2025, focused on building and lighting burn piles. Around 60 people showed up to support the day, including faculty and students Sonoma Earth School and from the Wildfire Resiliency Program at Santa Rosa Junior College, and staff from All Hands Ecology’s Fire Forward.

Calvi Ranch Acquisition - December 2025
Calvi Ranch Acquisition - December 2025
LandPaths purchased the 69-acre parcel from the Calvi family, thanks to funding support from the California State Coastal Conservancy and anonymous donors, in November 2025. It's located just half a mile from the Grove of Old Trees, a 49-acre redwood preserve, which LandPaths acquiredand protected in 2000. The deal itself was structured on part sale, part donation of the land by Gene and David Calvi, who are the sons of Rico Calvi, who purchased the land in 1935 as a recent immigrant from Italy. Mr. Calvi ran a sawmill on the property for decades, but with a 3’ saw run by a Buick engine he only cut smaller trees, leaving the old growth and mature second growth to stand as they are today .
