Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Saw this at BFI IMAX (again) with Tom Cruise in attendance to provide an intro to the film. Life has truly peaked.

This film is far and away the best action movie ever. Other action greats, such as Hard BoiledThe Raid or The Matrix don’t quite come close to this. This film is exhilarating, with some of the most incredible stunts and set pieces ever captured. The climax in Kashmir is stunning—such a beautiful backdrop to the pure carnage and thrills that go on…

Enjoyed this a bit more on a rewatch. I think Keaton is great and I liked some of the jokes but Allen’s character is so insufferable that it really drags down the film for me.

A poignant, scathing satire that rings painfully true 50 years on. Everyone is going at full throttle nearly the entire time. The monologues are iconic and amazingly feel just as relevant today, especially Ned Beatty’s. All the acting awards were very well deserved - in my eyes this should’ve been the best picture over Rocky too.

Watched this at the BFI with an intro from Laura Dern. That’s about all the good in relation to this. I don’t know how I scored it that high the first time. This is absolute utter garbage. It’s long, looks atrocious and makes not one ounce of sense. There hasn’t been a film since Megalopolis that has made me pray for it to end. Truly Lynch’s absolute worst film, I cannot see any redeeming qualities in this and will never rewatch this pile of junk.

Decent. Liked the visual style a lot and liked Galactus as a villain. An enjoyable film to switch your mind off to.
