The Purpose of Routine.

A routine is not about boring processes. Routines are not meant to stifle creativity or growth. Routines are designed to prevent unnecessary mistakes. How might this work? Thoughts create awareness.

Awareness triggers actions. Actions become decisions. Decisions become intentional. Within this intentionality, is a pattern. The pattern is not perfect, or linear.

However it does create the illusion of predictability. This predictability allows you to reduce tension. If you build habits that turn into a routine, you can begin seeing problems arise far before they actually occur. This allowing you to adjust or change course if and when necessary.

Routines also alleviate mental stress through decreased decision fatigue. This is why you’ll often find that top performers in sports, business, and entertainment almost always have an obsessive attachment towards their process of practice, and productivity. In other words they have built-in routines. It makes them operate based on the repetitive nature of practicing their routines. Like muscle memory, they reach a flow-like state.

This is when they appear to execute tasks seamlessly, as if they don’t even have to think about what comes next. This fluidity opens of an awareness that is akin to seeing life through a microscope. Being able to spot the slightest discrepancies. Preventing physical damage, financial loss, or creative blockages, by way of streamlined activity.

Biological Bloat.

What is the ultimate objective for an ai based future? Remove enough cognition from the system without it collapsing.

Without the advancements of technology, humans would be left shipping scrolls by bird, asking for directions, and walking to the nearest destination.

At what point do we begin to question the validity of these advancements? Perhaps when spend becomes a by product of a bloated workforce. The workforce then being seen not only as unnecessary, but incompetent. Because why else would you substitute humans for machines? Because you assume the machines can do it better, faster, and don’t have a complaint mechanism within their capabilities.

Now we dive deeper into the possibility of manufactured creativity. Because bots program unintentionally. It’s the human that has an agenda. The technology is just a tool. Yet and still, even tools need to be used according to their intended purpose.

Before it needs fixed.

Preventative Maintenance can be a key part of keeping your life disaster free. Whether it’s dental cleanings every 6 months, emergency funds for unexpected expenses, or keeping capital reserves when asset prices fall below attractive valuations. It appears to be the case, that a backup plan for what unlikely events, is better than misguided assumptions about future outcomes.

Easy Fix.

Fixing your problems will help you sleep better at night. You’ll have more confidence and walk the earth with a purpose when you correct what has gone wrong in your personal and professional life. If you never fix your problems, you’ll have a far more difficult existence than you care to withstand.

1,200

One thousand two hundred days in a row. This is how many times I’ve hit publish on WordPress without missing a beat. From finance, to philosophy. The random theories in psychology, and a compulsive need to keep the streak alive. At this point in life, I’m trying to fix what was left broken for years. Taking the proactive and practical path is far more important than some theory or formula that may never see the light of day. I suppose I’ll break the streak eventually, and get on with the rest of my life. For now, I’m using this time period as a way to see how far I can take this compulsion, or until life outside of daily writing becomes interesting enough to stop publishing. I suppose more interesting things within the real world could make for better writing. Regardless of what happens nexts, it’s been fun and agonizing working on this mess of a project.

Getting real about manhood.

You think you’re doing a lot as a man until you realize how much more the top guys are doing in a single day let alone a week or month. It’s not enough to be average. Average clearly doesn’t secure your future. Doing the average amount of work, and having an average mindset simply keep you from complete collapse.

Unfortunately, average doesn’t do anything above outright collapse. Meaning when you’re average you are always one day, one week or once check away from losing everything. This is far too risky a life to live. This being the case we must separate ourselves from the pack. Working more (50-60hours per week) and sleeping a little less (6-6 & a half hours per night) and removing all distractions. It’s not easy, and it’s a long process, but you’ll come out having known you’ve given your all to make something of yourself.

Complain to Remain Insane.

Complaining about your misfortune doesn’t help fix it. You have to actually take action. Meaning, decide what’s wrong. Figure out how this happened. Come up with multiple solutions to fix the problem. Pick the solution that is most likely to solve the problem. Rinse and repeat for the rest of your problems. Sometimes we get stuck step one because we may receive sympathy from others. Sympathy is not synonymous to solutions. Write the problem down. Write the solution down. Take every action needed to solve it. That’s it.

Day 1,068

When you overthink you give in to the temptation of fear. The fear is most likely psychological. You fixate on what seems bad or imperfect about your efforts, or aspirations. Meanwhile you’re still alive, eat three times a day, and still have enough life left over to share with the person next to you. Gratitude is the best fix for creative contemplation.

The Problematic Paradox.

People enjoy discovery, and figuring out how to solve problems. Whether the problems are created intentionally, or they accumulate over time due to unforeseen circumstances, is not as important. It’s what you become throughout the process of solution development that makes you want to relive the experience all over again.

Iterative Attempts.

Your luck is increased by trying more. There’s a catch. You must ensure you’re learning from each failed attempt, to prevent permanent loss. Each lesson learned is supposed to be utilized to craft a better strategy and process of making progress.

Personality-Problem Connection.

Average problems could lead to uninteresting discoveries and solutions. This of course is a generalization. In other words, you rise to the level of life’s problems; assuming you rise at all. The confounding elements are not only environmental or cultural; they are also psychological in terms of one’s personality and temperament. If the problem aligns with who you are and how you are, you’ll find purpose in arriving at the solution. If the personality to problem connection is incongruent, stagnation or staying stuck wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.

Within the Limits.

There’s not always going to be a direct path to what you want or need. This is obvious for the most part. What might not be as easily understood is the benefit of potential roadblocks. You may not have a limitless supply of resources. You can however work within the limitations of your own capabilities and resources.

This may actually help you develop better strategies and workarounds for making the progress you need to make.

Comfort Conundrum.

While constructing a new framework for human development, I’ve come to notice a gap. A gap between what is needed, versus what is realized or wanted in the present moment. A simple example might be, a gym-goers lifestyle changes that lead to less importance for physical optimization. The individual may frame the conundrum as a “lack of motivation”. In reality, the variable that primed one for physical activity, has in fact been removed.

Ergo the awareness for change is ignored, while comfort is elevated at the subconscious level. Enough comfort leading to the stagnation example discussed in yesterday’s post. In keeping this short, there’s a perpetual process that rests within our core values. You either feed it or subconsciously starve it. Either way, the implications manifest themselves over time.

You’re stiff.

You’re not in competition with anybody other than yourself. Did you beat last year’s version of you? If not, figure out how you can. Use it as a way to exhibit self awareness. You’ll learn how to become more intentional about the decisions you make on a daily basis.

Do this instead.

There are moments in time, where you think “what the hell is wrong with me?” Let me ease your mind by telling you, it can be fixed. Whatever it is that causes you this grief, can be alleviated by accepting it. There’s a catch of course. The catch is, you only get to accept your problem and the grief, if you do something about it.

What I really mean is, change something you do, in order to get a different, or better outcome. Perhaps you may start with changing the way you perceive things. Don’t just allow what has happened to define your past or your future. In this moment, you have a responsibility to change course. If you don’t, there is no reason why you, or anybody around you should feel sorry for you.

Observations of the creative.

I could be wrong by about all of this. Creatives don’t survive the treacherous torment of repetitive tasks. Creatives function by formulating their own ideas, based on cultural patterns and observations, that entice or plague their inner critic. Creatives don’t like rules, or boundaries, but they do like standards, in terms of taste. Creatives don’t relish in what is predictable and normal.

Creatives are erratic, extremely irritable, and often times anxious. Creatives don’t always know what they do want, but they are always certain of what they don’t want. Creatives like to think they are always going against the grain, even if it’s obvious that they are following what has been done already. Creatives wither away whenever they stop creating. Like the heart of individual that has stopped pumping blood, a creative will lose their ability to create if they don’t continue ecreating.

It sounds basic, and trivial to a non creative, but it’s the livelihood of all creative beings.

Work is not romantic.

We have to stop romanticizing the process. Waking up and doing the work, day after day, regardless of circumstances is how success will be maintained. We can be consistent when we’re making lots of money. We can be consistent when people are watching. Can we be consistent when there is no feedback or positive reinforcement coming our way?

Do whatever you have to do, to show up (work on your goals) even if it seems like nothing is going your way.

Surgical adjustments.

Feel free to adjust your plan. What you’re doing now may actually be counterproductive to your goals. Dissect your process, and find out where you are lacking efficiency. Make the necessary changes, and keep testing the results, until you get the desired outcome you want and need.

Tiffany’s Epiphany.

You create authority through experience. When you get results, in a specific area, and can replicate it, systematize it, and teach it, you’re a step closer to becoming authoritative. Doing something that others want to do, but don’t know how, is where you will thrive, and create the most value for people. Not everyone thinks the way you do. All don’t approach the problems how you approach them.

This is what creates that sense of uniqueness in you. Your ability to solve those nagging worldly problems, is your calling. You just got sidetracked into thinking it’s not important enough.

I won’t rest until…

There’s something that is gnawing at you. Every single day you’ve got an idea or goal that you desperately need to get done. Being that it’s not complete, you keep getting this feeling in your stomach. You’re uncomfortable, depressed, and exhausted from playing pretend all day. Meanwhile the thing you keep putting off, only gets bigger.

The better thing to do is work on it. Right now, set a daily schedule, and do piece by piece until it’s complete. Otherwise you are going to go insane due to lack of action.

Just get it done.

There are so many ways to solve a problem. Don’t box yourself into a traditional approach. Your path is not the same as everyone else’s.

The assignment of assessment.

The ability to self assess is important. Being objective is also a key element of human interaction. Don’t get caught up in the emotional crossfire of what’s going on around you. Being too emotional will lead to a lack decisiveness. Lack of decisiveness will lead to inability to remain objective.

Eventually you’ll be sucked into every situation that doesn’t directly affect your personal life. We have to pick and choose when an emotional response is appropriate or necessary, in order to ensure problems get resolved, and desired outcomes are achieved.

Having visions.

Don’t allow your current situation to define your future circumstances. You might not be where you want to be today, but at some point, with hard work, discipline and intelligence, you can find your way to a level of success and happiness that you haven’t seen before. Lee working towards your vision.

Faithful Fixing.

Always be ready to make adjustments to your life. We never know exactly what’s coming or going. All we know is exactly what we can control in the current moment. The rest of life is faith based. The potential outcomes are what we use as energy to propel us forward.

Conscious Realignment.

Be aware of your actions. As simple as that may sound, we get into the habit of doing whatever comes naturally. This can be an issue if what we’re doing on a daily basis is not aligned with our ultimate goals and objectives. This is why self awareness is essential to our personal development. When you are actively conscious of what energy you are transmitting throughout the universe, you’ll begin to recognize where you need to improve.

You’ll see the hazards much sooner and be able to prevent accidents and mishaps, that would set most people back. It’s good to have a routine, just don’t get so caught up in that routine that you forget to adjust it, and check on whether you’re actually moving towards your most desired path.

Incase you need a reminder.

The things they don’t teach us are the exact things we need to know in life. Falling behind sucks, but recognizing that you have an issue is a start. What’s even better is taking the necessary precautions to ensure that you don’t repeat the same mistakes. On top of that, creating an actionable plan of attack and sticking to it, is all that matters in regard to getting your life back in order. Also, it may serve you well, to stop giving a damn about public or private opinions because those don’t pay the bills, or accomplish your goals for you. Do whatever you need to do to get out of the rut you’re in, and towards a life of prosperity.

No Lazy Days Allowed.

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I don’t have lazy days. I’m either working or resting. Laziness can not be afforded especially as we get older. Every single day needs to matter and count towards your ultimate goal and purpose in life. If you’re resting because you need to recover from the work you’ve done that’s acceptable.

Simply laying around on your ass all day watching television after not completing any productive tasks is insane. A lot of people spend the latter half of their lives bitching, moaning and complaining about how much life sucks, meanwhile when you look back at their younger years, there are a plethora of lazy days throughout that journey. Earn your rest days, and stop having “lazy days” altogether. You’re either working or resting because of the previous work you’ve done. Time moves forward so every second is crucial to our progression or digression. There are no lazy days.

Sweat can save you tens of thousands…

If you care about living a long and healthy life, I suggest you start exercising/working out regularly. Am I the poster child for health and wellbeing? No. However I have spent over 20 years working on maintaining a workout routine, so this comes from someone who practices what they preach. You don’t need to be an elite athlete.

150 minutes of moderate to intense exercise every week is all it takes to starts reaping the benefits of getting and staying in shape. As we age it gets harder, and our abilities decrease. It’s far better to build a strong foundation as we get closer to the golden years. Especially since the costs of living doesn’t seem to be decreasing. Bills don’t vanish as we get closer to retirement.

Why risk being in and out of the hospital spending a ton of money fixing what could have been prevented?

Think, Believe, Do, Become.

What we think, creates what we believe, what we believe becomes what we do, and what we do is that which is most important to us at any given point in time. If we want to change our existence and make it better or more efficient, we must start with better and more efficient ways of thinking.

Seek, learn, understand, implement, utilize.

Simply showing up day after day is not enough. You get to a point where implementation and execution are essential ingredients to the success formula. How can you take the information you have found, studied and understood, and turn it into positive results? How can you create a systematic process with a high success rate? Because a lot of us have information, but we’re not doing anything with it.

What is the point of having this information and not utilizing it to live your best life? When you learn something knew immediately use it in your own life. Instead of waiting until things are perfect or better. Things will never be better than what they currently are in this very moment. So as much as we plan for the future it really is the frame by frame, actions that dictate where the future may be.

You can’t go back, so fix it TODAY.

We truly are the sum total of our daily habits. Look at your life. Whatever it is, wherever you are, a lot of it, has to do with all of the things you said yes and no to. If you like it, great! Keep going. However, if you have the slightest be of contempt, or disdain for your own existence, you better get your shit together immediately. Don’t waste anymore time on things that are not pushing you towards a life you can be proud of living.

Friendly Advice…

Instead of pretending you have it all figured out, realize you’re a mess. It’s much easier to accept your current mess. This way you can find a better solution to being less put together. Too often we put on a act. This act is meant to protect our ego, and insecurities. Hiding only hinders your growth.

You’ll never be perfect so, just get on with fixing the issues, and improving upon your strengths.

Romantic Relations…

Having conversations about romantic relationships is interesting. Everyone has a completely different approach to what works for them and what doesn’t. I always say that the couples that make it work for decades, are the ones that make the deliberate choice to keep fighting for love. You can’t force yourself to stay with someone, but I do think it is a choice couples make consistently throughout the relationship. Why on earth do some couples last 20 years, and split?

Maybe some go longer, but decide at the very last minute it doesn’t work for them. Why don’t they end it, 10 or 15 years beforehand? This is why I think, couples have to continue to wake up and make the choice to keep working with each other and being together.

Read it and weep.

When you read through some of the data and hear the commentary, it seems as though the economy is on a precipice, that is being watched by us all. At the bottom is inflation, a slow down in consumer demand, increases in unemployment, geopolitical pressures, and monetary tightening by the fed. We are more informed now than ever before. We don’t want what’s going to happen, to play out . However, history would suggest that a economic reset is exactly what is needed to get things recalibrated.

We’ve seen this movie many times before or have read about it while sifting through historical data. How are we supposed to stabilize the economy without breaking it? Unfortunately more destruction will continue, especially being that inflation doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. It’s an unfortunate part of the cycle.

Shut up and contribute.

It is your right to do whatever you want to do with your time. Just don’t complain if things are not going your way, on account of you sitting around wasting away. I can’t stand when people have the nerve to talk about how unfair life is. If you live in America, life is wonderful. You might just be lazy, or looking at the glass half empty or feeling entitled.

We have so many opportunities to get ahead, yet, people will walk away from jobs because of pay or not enough time off, or not getting promoted or whatever, without really understanding how companies work. If you want the glamorous life, create it yourself by building your own company and creating your own schedule. See how much “EASIER” that is. Don’t give people shit, if you’re not willing to put up with your own shit. It’s wild to me that people want so much while Providing very little.

A lot of folks have no idea what it truly takes to keep a company afloat, yet they cry about the working conditions, while driving to work in moderate to nice looking car, drinking overpriced coffee that they could have made at home for cheaper, and telling everybody about their problems via social media on their $1,000 handheld computer/smartphone. What a time to be alive.

Lesson Learned (Earned).

It’s easy to make mistakes, but difficult for folks to learn the lesson. Learning the lesson means stepping outside of yourself. It means looking at what you are, rather than who you are or how you felt. You must be critical of your weaknesses, and in some instances disregard your strengths, because, that’s probably where the lesson is. we all suffer from psychological, and physical behavioral patterns. When you see what causes your hiccups, that’s what needs to be addressed and removed from your life. Admitting you were off the mark is okay, as long as you work on becoming better.

Another thing that is uncomfortable about learning lessons is having to adjust and or change our routine. This however can force artificial growth to become self awareness, if that makes sense. I could go on, but I think you get the point.

Let’s take advantage.

Sometimes we forget how fortunate we are, by our lack of enthusiasm and effort. Recognize that you were given many chances for a reason. Some people did not make it through the same difficulty that you did. Take that as a sign, to fulfill your deepest desires. We only have one opportunity to make this life our very best.

Sit around and pout for the rest of your life, or get up do something with your time that will make a valuable difference for you and those around you.

Dig In.

Often times we jump ship when things are not going the way we thought they would. This is very counterproductive. If anything, you should go a little deeper into solving the problem you’re having. The hurdles you experience, are a time to be investigative in order to figure out what needs to be adjusted. Another thing that may be hurting you, is being overly obsessive.

When things are new and fresh we are all in, and care about every little detail. When things don’t come as easy we get lazy or lackluster in our pursuit. Some of us even start looking at other avenues, industries or projects. If you say you want this, dig into the difficulties. Learn to solve your own problems.

This way you know how to solve other peoples problems when it’s time to teach or share your wisdom.

Move your hands.

Face the challenge and stop running. You’ve done enough pussy-footing around the subject. Address it, and attack with a solution. The longer you sit on your hands and act like it doesn’t exist, the more you ruin the rest of the ride when it’s time to board the next stop. You have added tools to your arsenal that you didn’t have before, so knowledge or understanding is not an excuse.

Do what needs to be done so you can remove the psychological burden forever.

Get it.

If you don’t want to be stupid, absorb more information and utilize it properly. If you don’t want to be overweight, eat cleaner and exercise regularly. If you want to be lonely, find a partner you can connect with. If you don’t want to be timid learn to be stern or stoic. Summarizing this unnecessary message, if you want something, get up and make it happen. You’re not stuck.

I’m so biased.

Are you trying to change one of your belief systems? If so, prepare for a battle. Since we have been raised in a certain setting, we already have many biases across a narrow or broad set of categories. We literally have thought patterns and processes that active when we say, do, or see specific things based on our upbringing. So you’ll have to become aware of the bias that you want to address first.

Figure out what triggers this bias, the behavioral ticks associated with it, and how to counter that reaction with a new habit or thought process. Now rinse and repeat for every other bias you want to change, remove or improve.

Self Awareness.

The time we spend bitching and complaining about what’s wrong in life, is time that can be used to make what’s wrong right. Be productive, be mindeful, and be aware of whether you are hurting or helping yourself in the long run.

Some days…

Sometimes you have really bad days. Go theough the pain, process it, and keep moving forward. Looking back tok often will cuase you to crash and fixate on the uncontrollable. As long as you stay focused on what you can change and control, you’ll be in more control of your own life.

Fail, fail, fail.

How many times are you willing to fail? 3 times? 80 times? 1,295 times? Is there even a number?

Regardless of metrics, failure is valuable. It teaches us what we really do want, and what we don’t want. Failures forces you to learn or lose. Failure is also a good compass. Showing you how much closer you are to your goal.

Maybe you should learn how you can be okay with failure until things pan out. At least failure shows that you making an attempt to fix something.

Answer me this…

What makes you so afraid of your own potential?
Why do you create excuses as to why you did or did not do something?
What is the very worst thing that could happen if you give your all to your dreams?
What’s the best thing that could happen?
Why is failure respected by so many of us?
What is your real problem?
How many times have you cried in frustration while still marching forward in pursuit of what you want?

Answer the questions HONESTLY, and FULLY! Write down the answers, and than DO SOMETHING to FIX IT!
