Money Trumps Minds.

Any time the stock market rises to new levels you get interested buyers. These buyers are typically average individuals. They do little to no research, but hear about their friends generating a ton of profits. Because of this, they open accounts, and the short term frenzy intensifies. Everyone from the bar tender, to the hairdresser begins giving stock tips.

Your grand parents even school you on the merits of not missing out like they did during the 1930’s or in the 50’s. One given sector becomes the hot topic, and easy pick. Everyone feels richer, and arrogance, coupled with ignorance gets classified as intelligence. We always know how this movie ends, yet we pretend it’s different this time. Ultimately  relishing the spoils of bear market rallies, dead cat bounces, dips, and any other technical nomenclature that sounds made up to the untrained mind.

The kicker? the market typically rises higher to the tune of something like 70% of the time. A 70% is passing. However it only takes one bad grade to prevent you from graduating on time.

Different.

Getting different results requires different actions and decisions. Stop thinking you can approach every situation with the same mindset and get some magical outcome from it. You have to make the necessary adjustments if you want to improve your current position in life.

Liquified Perspective.

You could be living the same exact life as someone adjacent to you. Meanwhile you both drink from two completely different cups. One is half full. The other is half empty. Said differently one person has found many ways to enjoy and savor their drink. Meanwhile the other individual can’t shake the fact that this is all they have left in their cup. People tend to exaggerate their reality in different ways when presented with the same set of circumstances.

Nine times out of ten.

Waking up to repeat the same process from yesterday, and the day before creates predictable outcomes. It’s the subtle changes within those patterns that signal repetition. The possibilities of better, further, deeper or more meaningful outcomes is what makes you get up and do it all over again. Just in case it gets better, you keep showing up to be ready for the unpredictable.

It’s just different.

If you want to know what’s going to happen tomorrow, do exactly what you did today. You’ll save yourself, the excitement, wonder and anticipation of delight, joy, and spontaneity. Even though you’ll miss out on living differently each day, you can rest assured that nothing will ever change, because you’ve created a very predictable existence. The irony in the peace of mind that comes with a predictable future, is becoming upset that there’s no change or excitement in your life. If you want different, do differently, act differently, be different.

Only one.

You’re not just a blip in the system. You have your own way of developing ideas, and conveying the message to others. This is what some may call unique. Others might refer to it simply as perspective. The two are not mutually exclusive.

The point I’m trying to make here is that, there’s only one you, and that’s worth embracing to the fullest extent.

Social dilution.

At some point a majority of society will become invisible. In other words, many of us end up living the same exact lives in different locations. How the hell do you cut through the noise and mediocrity without seeming like a nut? Most will say “just be yourself”. Well the fact that 10 other people are trying to secretly be like you, doesn’t make you any more unique than the next person.

Then again, maybe I’m just being overly dramatic, and looking too deep. When trying to be different makes you seem just like everyone else, is all hope lost?

Just get it done.

There are so many ways to solve a problem. Don’t box yourself into a traditional approach. Your path is not the same as everyone else’s.

It’s your fault.

As a child I use to blame other people for the outcome that I got. “If they didn’t do __________, I could have been better off.” Lucky for me, I grew up realizing that every decision I have ever made, was a conscious choice. I could have chose a different path to go. I could have done things differently, but I didn’t until much later.

This is my own fault. What my life is now, is because of God, and because of my own personal decisions. Be it good or bad, you keep making decisions that lead you to where you currently are. There may be some instances where an individual may purposely try to sabotage your plans, but still, you can learn to recognize the issue, and decide to make a change. We can’t get away with blaming others every time something doesn’t go our way. Just accept what you have allowed to happen regardless of how detrimental or beneficial it is to you.

Keep your own pace.

It can be dangerous to believe the hype about where you need to be based on others situations. Everyone moves and grows at a completely different pace. You can’t let societal expectations force you to feel better than or less than because of where they think you should or shouldn’t be. You have to focus on your own development as a human and take as much time as you need to try and do things on your terms. You have to work with what you have. You can’t work with what others expect from you. Don’t get caught up in the game of “keeping up with the jones’”.

Before you fall asleep at the wheel.

If you’ve tired something a dozen times, or maybe 1,000 times, it may be time to stop. You can look foolish and shoot for attempt 1,001 or do something different. Even when the formula works, it’s not a bad idea to take a different approach. Redundancy is the fastest way to boring and predictable.

Try something else..

Stop writing down the same goals everybyear. Swtich things up and figure out how to dig deeper when it comes to your true desires, wants, and needs. There is no limit to what you can do, be, or see.

And it all starts with an idea.

And that idea, and those goals you set are kept alive when you continue to have self belief. Lets get more out of the new year that is coming than we ever have before.

Stuck are we?

Don’t get stuck. If you feel like you are constantly doing the exact same thing day after day after day SWITCH SHIT UP! There are no rules to how you have to love your life!

Spontenaiety is a key element of new discoveries. Take a risk and do things different.

It won’t always work…

Learn how to move differently. The way things used to work for you back then won’t cement your success this time around.

What did you do right? What did you do wrong? What happened in between?

This is a key practice moving forward. Reflect, readjust, and remain.

I’m not the only one right?

Have you ever found yourself about to read a book, listen to a song, watch a movie or have a conversation with someone, and you feel like you already know what they are about to say?

Did you ever feel like within 10 guesses you could crack the code of any one thing in life before it happens?

Not in a sense of fortune telling or mind reading. No. More like pattern-adaptation.

Our entire lives consists of patterns. The way we eat, the climate change in weather, the school system, your duties at work. It’s all one giant loop.

The problem with a bulk of individuals is not trying hard enough to go left. Saying something that is not necessarily unheard of but could not be guessed within 1,000 guesses as opposed to a mere 10.

We love the things that seems fresh, yet live as though everything is just another rerun from last week.

This to me is a base of all bordom. Repetition, and habitual behavior that is.

Times have changed (a bit).

Remember, there use to be life before the information age?

We had to call people on phones attached to walls with phone jacks.

We had to travel to see who we wanted to see.

No smart phones. No video chat. No problem. We’ll talk on the wall assisted phones. Or more advanced cordless house phones.

We can write each other. Spend the night.

Life is much different than that time.

We can change everything

What’s happening to society?

Children getting dumber.
Adults getting lazier.
Government getting trickier.
Nothing different is being done about it.

Rioting doesn’t fix anything.
Yelling doesn’t REALLY help to get the point across.
Exposing the crooks inly makes matters worse.

So how do we fix these issues?
We fix them by becoming the leaders we need but don’t have.

It all starts with you.
When you become powerful enough to influence others, use it to make a positive impact.

Same ol same no.

Sometimes you have to switch up your routine. Doing the same exact thing every single day gives you no reason to look forward to tomorrow.

Go to that burger joint.
Take a jog through that promising trail.
Finish all of your homework a week before it’s due, instead of sunday the day before it’s due.
Hug someone you never hugged before.
Forget to pack a lunch and figure out what the vending machine will bring you.

Whatever you do, just switch it up every now and than. Your neurons will thank you and things will seem a bit more interesting.

Connection to others.

You don’t really connect with others until something clicks. Once you find out you both have read the same 2 or 3 books, or were born in the same city. If your birthdays are close together, it brings a different energy into the mix. You want that person around you more because you feel like they get you. They won’t judge you.

When dealing with strangers it’s exactly the same. You don’t really know until you know. Than there is friendly vibe that takes over the rest of the interaction.

Learn to find common interests, and similarities. Once you do that you’ll never be shy again.

The throw-away’s

Don’t force too much of what is not there. If the energy is off, follow that and take a break or go in a different direction.

Sometimes we think we’re ready for an idea to hatch when really we just need to write it down and come back to it later.

Everything can not be put out into the world ready-made. Sometimes you’ll miss. Keep some of those misses. You just might have to come back to them.

“We all”

We all travel different places.
We all perceive things in a different way.
We all come up with different ways to say the same things.
We all have different motives.
We all walk somewhat of a different path.
We all need a different source of inspiration.
We all give different reasons why we do things.
We all fight for different truths in some way.

When it comes to happiness we all want the same thing.

Two types

There’s a pattern in society. Most of us believe life only happens one way. The way we believe in is “wherever we end up is where we end up”. Wether by luck, charm, or having that one rich uncle. This my friend is not how it goes. There are different types of people for each situation, but that person doesn’t really reveal their true self until the tide hits land and things are in a disarray (I’ve been wanting to use that word FOREVER!).

Anyway what happens is there lazy people stay lazy. They are not used to levels changes in their work load. If something is too crazy at one point or another they look at that as a very very bad thing. They might think “things are out of control”, “I did not prepare for this moment”, “there’s too much going on at one time for me”.

The other type of people? Oh boy! Any sign of insanity or craziness gets them pumped up. They are bored to death of any routine schedule and find it not challenging at all. These are the type of people who add more responsibility to their life to gain more fulfillment in what they do. Theses types say “bring it, “I can do this all day”, “is there anyway I can further advance myself from the current position I’m in?”. These people want life to get harder and are aware of change. They live to prepare for and engage in all of the changes life brings.

The first type believe that things are supposed to always stay the same and get very upset otherwise. The second type, is much needed for the remainder of existence.

Progression people!

Looking around you, do you see the same people? The same co-workers? The same scenery?

Is nothing different?

If that’s the case you are making a mistake. Don’t coast through what you think is “all of the time in the world”. Make a choice now. The choice to become a force. The choice to stand out. The choice to switch things up.

Last year you didn’t do much of anything. This year you’re already off to a bad start. You can not make up for lost time. It now or never. Make the adjustments and put in the work.

You’ll be happy you did.

Mark-it (Market).

Has your marketing failed you?

Not getting any new leads? Are sales decreasing? Do you constantly produce and create the same material for each of your products or campaigns?

Stop doing that today!

Tell more stories. Use your life. Be bold. Don’t be afraid to be different and do different. If you’re on Facebook 24/7 marketing ideas, maybe try going to twitter for a while or switch back and forth.

Try public speaking and speak about your experience as a (insert your job title/dream job here). Spread awareness on a specific topic you specialize in. Make sure to do it with passion.

Figure out how many times you can say the same thing thousands of time to engage the same audience while building a new one.

Share, share, and share. If you don’t share your ideas people will never know you have any to begin with.

And do me one last favor: practice!!!!

Different is as different does.

Do everything in your power to stand out. Be a little odd. Be corky. Be weird. Toy and experiment with the idea of strange.

Too much is already normal. A majority of us are already too regular. Rewire your instincts. Do things so differently than the rest of us.

There is too much fear associated with what is out of the ordinary. Why do we shun different? Is it because we don’t want to raise our hands first? Is it because we don’t want to face the possibility and responsibility of resistance to what is new?

I think it’s a combination of everything. Either way we need to move in the opposite direction and get weird.

Are books that important? (Duh!).

What would happen to the world if adults read 25 books a year after finishing school?

Everything would be much more interesting. This country would be a lot more intelligent. Each individual would have real insight. We’d be a lot more patient and understanding. Our listening skills would increase. We’d have more brain capacity.

The conversations would would actually mean something instead of being based on dead-end subjects with no substance. Even the way we dress would be different.

In my opinion these things can all be influenced by reading. Not just any books we find. Books that force us to think beyond the normal everyday situations. Books that would make us question life at the end of every chapter.

Reading creates a discipline in which most of us do not have.

Pick up a few insightful books this year. Things might begin to change for you.

Originality vs The Copycat

Based off of me and possibly 500,000 other people having the same book cover design I came up with this theory about being a copycat:

Being one is easy. It’s quick and convenient and you don’t need permission because your taking from someone else. A copycat will spend more time putting out junk into the world project after project, with all the same concepts and no real substance.

Copycats don’t really have to worry too much about thinking things through. They just mesh their none-thoughtout idea with someone else’s original art and call it their own. The volume at which they release is incredibly high. They lack the know-how of creativity. They are constantly surrounded by yes-men who give them the confidence which they lack due to refusal to take time and really become creative.

Let me say this: in the music industry there are a ton of copycats. The ones who have songs that blend in with every “radio smash” you here. The songs that make the most noise because of originality are the ones that make you see different colors in your mind. The songs that really matter are the ones that never make the radio or only make it one every few years. These are the songs we never stop singing and never get tired of. The songs that actually win grammys.

On to being original:

It can not be purchased. Originality is scare and very hard to find from personal experience. Being original takes time and tons of patience. Being original is an art form. Originality comes very naturally to those who possess it. The only consequence of originality is new growth. There is nothing to cover up. You are very vulnerable when being 100% original.

One of the biggest reasons why people lack originality is because how the time it takes to mold yourself into that kind of person. You have to think about all of the things around you that exist and put those aside in order to deliver something better. This is where people get lazy.

People love new. Originality is something you have never once seen before. We as humans gravitate more (at least that’s my belief) toward what hasn’t been done, felt, seen, or heard. We like the idea of something being original and not the same but a little bigger or smaller.

More originality equates to a longer attention span of consumers.

That one event

As some of you know I’m a huge Seth Godin fan and I have been for a few years now. Well I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see him speak in New York City at the very top of next year (SO!!!!!!!! EXCITED!!!!!!). Just some info on him: Bestselling author of 14 books! Marketing genius, entrepreneur, and public speaker.

You might be thinking “why the hell are you sharing this with me?” Because the important topic I’m going to discuss in this post is based on this: This is that one event which is going to change my life in so many positive ways. 2013 is going to be so different after I attend this event. The impact it will have on my businesses and most importantly on me a man and a fan is absolutely priceless.

This is exactly what you need as well. We all need to go through, show up to, and or be a part of that one event in our life that will re-define everything we stand for.

I think it is incredibly important and intelligent to go through yearly transformations. Try doing things a little different every year. This could mean taking your business to the next level. Learning how to forgive others. Working out for 9 months of the year instead of just one and the list goes on.

One huge reason why we need these types of situations to occur is because we get to complacent. We get too caught up in “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Well I’m telling you in order to live the life you know you really want to live and to continue to be successful, you’re going to have to constantly break things (sometimes literally).

Whether mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, or for the sake of a good cause, things must be broken down and built with a different design. If you did the same things every single day without every changing your routine, you would never grow. You would stay the same, speak the same, act the same, look the same, and produce the very same results year in and year out.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready for a change. I never want to stay the same. I always want to grow and evolve.

Those voices in your head that complain about being tired of doing the same things are right. You need to listen to them and take your life to the next level. If your afraid your going to make a ton of money and become greedy set up an account to give away the left over money to people in need after taxes and expenses are paid. If your afraid people will judge you then you need to remove those people from your circle.

If they don’t support, you don’t need to court. (meaning court them, like take them under your wing, spend time with them, be friends, etc.).

Life is all about getting the most out of it and giving it right back to the ones who love and support you. To accomplish that you need to constantly be in motion. You also need to constantly be evolving. Even as often as every 6 months.

This whole post comes down to this: If you want to grow (in any way) YOU CAN NOT BE  AFRAID TO CHANGE.

Setting up the future

When you look back at all of the things you’ve accomplished over the years, you can’t be mad at where your headed. You knew that if you went in a certain direction it would set you up for certain outcomes in the future.

When you want different, you have to not only do different but think different.

The digging to dig further process

Here’s the trick to life (this does not always apply): Dig. Dig deep. Dig often. Dig deeper. Explore, discover, Reveal. Find yourself and find others (figuratively and literally).

Chip away at the old you and take cation to the new you.  Life is all about innovating and creating change and evolving to new levels. The greatest way to do that is to go levels deep within your own soul. If you can sit there and say “I know exactly who I am and what I want in life” then it’s time to check up on the authenticity of that sentence and put it to the test.

Change your routine slightly, wear different clothing or a different hair style. Not to impress or to draw attention. To discover your reaction to the new changes. With change comes new ideas and opportunities therefore it could be something great. Just get into the habit of creating constant change. Don’t stay the same forever. For the sake of your sanity and well-being. Not for anyone else.

You’ll find things you didn’t know you had.

Next level shit

Sometimes the level we are on is not enough. A lot of times we think we took it all the way to the tip of the iceberg when in actuality we barely made it off of the base.

So what do you do when you think this way? You take to the next level. You re-vamp, re-boot, re-adjust, re-organize,  re-organize, and re-think everything in order to get something new, bigger, better, and more interesting.  Here’s the thing about different levels and stages in projects and in life in general: your life and or project will always call for next level innovations.

After you do something once, you can not go back to that one thing. Technically you can but someone (a fan of your work, family, friends, strangers etc.) will call for a different look. A different vibe and feel. There will always be a perfect explanation as to why you should go further than you did with the previous project.

That is the easy part. The hardest part of it all is taking the time to stop in the middle of creating (art, a term paper, proposal, contract, account, house etc.) to listen to good praise, bad reviews, and constructive criticism. Then using what was said about your creation and incorporating those ideas and many other new ideas to your next body of work.

It must be done this way. It happens to most of us if we are around passionate people who people who really care about how we do things. Otherwise you need to find a new groups of contributors, friends, and business associates.

Be glad to be pushed to the next level even when or if it annoys you because it will always ensure that greatness is the end result.

Opinion checklist

Why is it that everyone is so opinionated? People are always quick to chime in on others lives and tell them what they think is best (I’m guilty of it too) in certain situations.

Some questions you should start asking these people when they decide to be Ph. D’s in life coaching:

Who are you?

What can you bring to the table that can offer me something better than what I have now?

Is what you’re going to say the same as what 10 other people are going to say and if not why?

What current situation/problem are you dealing with right now that is similar to this and what are you doing to fix your own issues?

These questions should stop the opinionated psycho path and get them thinking about the cost of being in your business.

Now if this doesn’t work I’ll refund you with more advice on a different topic tomorrow.

P.s. we should not begin to give advice or our personal opinions on anything someone else is doing until we have proven to ourselves and at  least 3 other people that we dug ourselves out of some  interesting situations and managed to survive and create something better than what was there before.
