Sudden Breakups of Monogamous Quantum Couples Surprise Researchers

To understand the properties of materials, it’s crucial to know about the interactions of the particles inside them. A recent experiment by JQI Fellow Mohammad Hafezi and his colleagues explored a new regime of quantum interactions and revealed what happens when you break up the normally monogamous relationships between certain quantum particles.

The central theme of my research is to apply tools from quantum science to the studies of molecular structures and chemical reactions. To this end, becoming a member of JQI, one of the world's leading quantum centers, is highly valuable for my research program. Conversely, I hope to leverage my interdisciplinary background in both AMO physics and physical chemistry to help foster synergy between quantum and chemical sciences at UMD.
