This is a bit of a misunderstanding of human nature. People sometimes get kidnapped because their kidnapper never outright says "I'm going to kidnap you" but instead corners them with a series of polite requests that it is not in the victim's nature to respond to with refusal, rudeness or accusations of kidnapping. Up to that point in their life the victim has only ever granted incoming polite requests from strangers, it's bascially their involuntary default response, and their kidnapper has identified this as a pathway to coax the victim into their own kidnapping.
SImilarly, Democrats are absolutely locked into exclusively operating in the confines of procedure and precedent, their life script for crises is always consulting the written rules and sticking to what has worked before. Project 2025 is fully achievable using the existing procedures for governance, and because the Dems have already chosen to operate by ceding to anything enacted within the bounds of these procedures, to drop Biden from the ticket or outright do targeted witch hunts of the Heritage Foundation to stop a very real threat to democracy and secular government are simply actions outside of their life script and inertial thrust.
Asking Dems why they're running Biden and not fighting something that the conservatives devised to be a fully legal poison pill (that the OP absolutely should care about, and will indeed end what little democracy we still have and further entrench marginalized groups as second-class citizens) is like asking a DV victim why they don't run away or fight back if they "actually believe" their abusive spouse is going to kill them someday. This is me on Estrella, and my gf on Guajiro.
They were very cute horses, and as the farmer who owned them told us, they had auto pilot, so we basically just let them do what they wanted.
As for cruelty, yeah I can see how it can be/is cruel. Although I don't think we can pass judgement too harshly on places like Cuba where the horses are a requirement for industry, farming and tourism, what with the very few other options left to them because of the US blockade.
