In 1919, when Lenin said this, he was using the army to forcibly extract grain from peasants. That was the gist of "war communism" which was the Russian economy from 1918 to 1921. There was a lot of violence involved. That strategy lead to a famine that killed millions of people. That was around the same time that Lenin refused to allow urban workers to unionize. It was technically Trotsky who said that it didn't make sense for workers to have a union when they already had the Communist Party to represent them. But Lenin was standing behind him. And of course the same period saw the Red Terror, during which Lenin's people executed tens of thousands of Russians. Back in 1917, after the February revolution, the governing political body was the Duma which had a very strong socialist membership, and which was planning elections. There were also the soviets exerting powerful pressure on the Duma. The soviets were democratic, and entirely socialist. There were paths to a democratic-socialist state. But Lenin threw all that out, dissolved the Duma, and turned the soviets into apparatuses of the Communist Party because he thought no one else could do socialism correctly. And Russia got decades of authoritarianism. IMO Lenin is emblematic of the destructive outcomes of refusing to work with others who don't share your particular political philosophy.

The move to the right is because the USSR fell. USSR fell because of the distribution of fossil fuels at the time, too much coal in the US making the country very strong regardless of politics and too much oil in a weak and vulnerable monarchic Saudi Arabia, that got exploited by the US, made the situation even worse. But people don't listen to logic. Most people listen to results and then attribute emotional explanations to them. Even most people on the left. The gap the USSR left behind has been filled by US radical feminists and later US trans-feminists. Neither of them are much interested in social inequality, but are more about female victim-supremacy, while letting economic liberalism thrive. It's female supremacism dressed up as the one true socialism, just like naziism being (white) male nationalist supremacism, with one big difference, which is how the former is merely restrictive and incompetent, while the latter is more competently world endingly destructive and more succesfully genocidal. Feminist power is very fickle. It derives it's power from a shortage (100f:105m) of young (20-40) women and nothing else. In the 21st century with advanced technology, that's not going to last very long, hence why we've already gotten into the age of transfeminism, where men seeing the benifits of female power are able to get halfway there and are able to influence the feminist movement to such an extend, that it has almost has been taken over. But the shortage still remains, so US (trans-)feminism still dominates over the socialist spectrum of their empire. With so little left left in the US, and with a movement having usurped the name, there's nowhere left to turn for US citizens and all of their vassal states for that matter. The only rivaling semi-nation within the US empire, the EU, has sunk so hard, as it doesn't have any fossil fuels left that it's worshipping the US even harder than it already did during the time the US was at its strongest in the 1950s. (Feminist) Liberal US then attacked Vladimir Putin's Russia via proxy, although it would not have been different under ultra-capitalist US, but it did confuse the US white supremacist wing of the ultra-capitalists, and grow sympathy for Putin, because the feminists hate Putin for everything the white supremacists love, as Putin's ideology is centrist Christian Conservatism and multipolarism. While the centrism (more left than US liberalism) and multiporarism (less imperialist than US liberalism) is glossed over by US feminists, his macho shirtless horse riding and hatred of the promotion of transfeminism, is not. Not to mention that US continues to be imperialist and has started to inflict color revolutions aimed directly against his country and every single one of the former Soviet States. This amplified his need to promote a macho personality and lifestyle for military morale support against these coups-and-attacks-by-payment. Since automation is moving on, we're heading towards an accelerated second socialist revolution at lightning speed. We will see a giant move to the left once China starts to surpass the US, especially in nations surrounding China that trade with them the most. It's unclear which country will ride the new socialist wave first, but I'm suspecting former socialist countries like Russia will go first and neighbouring nations like India won't be far behind. Meanwhile it's unclear what will happen in the US. The situation is very similar to nazi Germany, but the key difference is the US two-party system that constantly prevents one party from dominating one or the other as the opposition is always united.

North Korea started the war and nearly won. America intervened and then South Korea nearly won. Then China intervened and the borders settled back to where they were originally. If you count the US intervening as an invasion then it's logical to count China intervening as an invasion. Ofc that's not reflected in ops map because it's a disingenuous piece of propaganda and not a serious comparison.

I wonder how the Uyghurs feel about this. Or even Taiwan. This is just CCP propaganda. The people of China are just as much victims to their government as the people of the US. All around the world, countries are being led by inept and out of touch capitalists. It doesn't matter how they frame their governments. Making money is the number one goal. We all could be living in a highly futuristic world with everything provided to us if only those who stole it all would just give back a little.
