I haven’t seen anyone else with small hands get lumped in with people making fun of the specific monster Trump. But if that’s happening I do disagree with that.

Making fun of someone for any physical attribute is far more likely than the near zero chance any of these fascists see your comment.

If someone is selfconscious about such an attribute (and many of us are) you only hurt your comrades.

I have super fucked up front teeth from getting shot in the face with a pellet gun. I don’t complain when people make fun of British dental issues but it does hit close to home. (Fuck the Brits for all sorts of other reasons anti-thatcher-action )

          Keep your audience in mind.

Yeah you’re right, I’ll have to come up with other coping skills eventually. I don’t make fun of teeth, that insult always didn’t sit right with me. Even for me when I make fun of Trumps looks it’s rarely out loud, and I’ll try to stick with that. I have enough content online done by people who agree with me and there doesn’t need to be anymore.

Yeah dental insults are especially elitist since work on teeth is expensive

If you must insult Trump for his looks(rather than the many, many far more sailent things to target) focus on the things he chose like the poorly applied spray tan/makeup and ill fitting suits

The biggest punchline of the spray tan is just the fact that Trump so obviously applies it himself. He might have somebody touch it up or give it a final pass before the cameras but you know his wet hands were involved somewhere in the process. Because he has to. Because you just know he does because he’s insecure about it. He’s always moving his hands around, he’s a handsy guy, so you know his hands are involved. I’m bone-deep certain of it.

Whatever physical attribute it is that you are mocking, you are making people who share that attribute feel self conscious. I know this from first hand experience, when I am reminded that it is something that people notice and find undesirable.

Do you understand where I’m coming from?

We shouldn’t be shaming people for things they can’t control, because what exactly are they supposed to do about that? Politics and protests should be about specific issues, and corresponding demands.

Political cartoonists right now are gaining no allies, strengthening no position, not effectively protesting, not even effectively educating, all it does really is make the small group of people who agree and care puff a little air out their nose. Cartoons can and have done more than that, but that not our current political cartoonists.

Also, everyone’s heard complaints about Trumps appearance a gazillion times now. It was one of the first things people started critiquing, and they haven’t stopped. It’s not new, it’s not unique, it’s not creative or innovative, it’s tiring. It’s like how news and op-eds don’t feature many of the early complaints about Trump, they understand that it was on repeat so much during the first term that anyone who would care has already heard about it, so they’ve moved on to new issues. Political cartoonists still haven’t figured that out at all yet.

I body shame SA-er’s bodies because their bodies are triggering and it’s comedic relief. To some who are panicking at the sight of their physical image all the time it can be an extremely important relief to hear others doing the same. I bet some of those victmized by Trump feel some relief when they hear these jokes.

Again, not the main thing to focus on. But a puff of air can be therapeutic. As long as that’s not the end all of every conversation you have about him. Even if you’re not politically active you may need counciling. The conversation can’t just always end at body shaming. I still relate to the comic because if someone before you is taking the political discussion further, try to meet them where they’re at. In person it would annoy me if I started a discussion on something specific and they went right back to “his hands, lol”. Online, it’s old but understandable.

Respectfully, for most people it is. I literally can’t have a conversation with liberals without them mentioning it, and it tends to completely derail the topic entirely. They are evil for what they do, not how they look.

And I’ll let you know, for most of us it just reminds us that in this culture being fat is bad, being balding is gross, and looking old is a curse that should be avoided at all costs.

Shit is boring and pointless for politics.

That is annoying. I didn’t know it was so derailing in some circles.

Yeah… I did once meet a guy who would not stop asking me if his hands are too small. That’s the unbeneficial side of all this, people take the insults towards Trump personally onto their own features. I think there’s enough content out there to fill an entire history textbook for people who need comedic relief. Maybe even for his own victims there doesn’t need to be anymore bodyshaming posts about him.

I can see this is more downpunching than it is uppunching. Sorry for my comment. I’ve decided to reserve it more for my personal thoughts. Again, not like Trump will ever see what I post.

The big thing is that it doesn’t really hurt Trump, but other people internalize it as a valid criticism that can be leveled at people and not only that, but that it is inherently an undesirable trait, because people who think like this are petty and cruel.

Validating their behavior and discourse is unhelpful at best, and actively harmful at worst.

You’re right. That’s something I haven’t considered enough. Come to think of it, incestuous shit is a huge problem for some and that’s probably very common for victims of it. That’s tragic to have your body trigger you and at that point it doesn’t help to make fun of the SA-er’s looks. I agree with the opinion in this case to just exclusively shit on them for what they do. I already reserved more hate for what they did with their bodies than how they look, and I could try more to stick with that.
