Xanthohumol is a prenylated chalcone, chemically designated as 3′-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-2′,4′,4-trihydroxy-6′-methoxychalcone, belonging to the class of flavonoids with the molecular formula C₂₁H₂₂O₅.[1][2] It occurs exclusively in the hop plant (Humulus lupulus), a member of the Cannabaceae family, where it is concentrated in the glandular trichomes of the female inflorescences, known as hop cones, comprising up to 1% of their dry weight.
