Tags

In Obsidian, tags provide a way to group and sort content.

My guides, code snippets, and more are free and open to everyone thanks to the generous support of my Go Make Things members.

Creating Tags

You prefix tags with a hashtag (#).

The Obsidian boilerplate uses two tags by default.

  • #🦄 adds an item to the Today.md file
  • #⭐️ flags an item as important, and displays it in a special in the All Todos.md file.

Both of these tags are typed out at the bottom of the All Todos.file.

This causes Obsidian to display them as autocomplete options when you type a hashtag in a note.

Hiding Items

You may have notes or folders that you don’t want to show up on the All Todos.md page.

Adding the see-no-evil emoji (🙈) to the file or folder name will hide it from all of the queries the boilerplate runs using the Tasks plugin.

This isn’t a tag. Just the plain emoji will do it.
