A year and how!

A year draws to a close(at the gym) and the obligation thus leads to penning down the experience. Anything new seems to bring about hardships. From a person to having no prior athletic experience(only played a few sports and practiced yoga), to transforming self to be more stronger physically and most of all mentally is all that happened in a year. Always wanting to, never had the time to, or just when things dint work out the right way, reasons are just reasons.

What started off as a customary fitness regime turned into passion. We all have a start point and I found mine.

The first few days were a nightmare, couldn’t move about. Even a simple cardio session was arduous. Which is when I realized the need to eat right. The right kind of food when put into your digestive system can make a huge difference in endurance levels. Also the ability to fine tune your mind to never give up come what may is crucial.

Slowly yet steadily I obtained an immense love for iron(Weights). There are these myths that a girl should not lift heavy. I have personally come across this not so diplomatic comment by a lady that “Girls should do only cardio workouts before marriage”. There is no restriction by gender to not do any workout, its all the minds of the people. Your uterus is not going to fall out anyway. Proper execution of a workout is the key.

At the gym, there are few gem of guys/girls who compliment/help each other during sessions. But there are also few people who comment for every single move you do. Most importantly gym isn’t only a guy thing. An example of how annoying people are. “If she had done the household chores right, she wouldn’t have become bulky”. Firstly household chores are not meant only for girls. Secondly, gym is a place where everyone come to better themselves physically so if you can workout, she definitely can too. Also, why do you come to gym in the first place? Each one’s area of expertise differs. And I would like to suggest that, to newbies you might as well be helpful instead of bombarding them with horrendous comments just so they dread gym.

Being fit is not a destination. Its not that when you arrive at it, you relax. Its about building a stronger you. There is no end to being fit. Your body can do wonders when you put yourself through all the struggles. And the satisfaction you get once you achieved something is heavenly!

Not to forget…INSTAGRAM. Been away from social media for years and one fine day started using this handle. Started off posting workout videos, food habits and my thoughts about fitness. I did not for once think that it would motivate so many of you people. The personal messages that I receive is overwhelming. The love and responses from you all definitely gives me positive vibes and it makes me want to do more. Thank you ALL!
