  1. I Im trying to add some single ROMs for Arcade, but none of the games show up, so they can't be added. I downloaded the ROM game Gunforce II, but it doesn't add. What do I have to do? The ROM I downloaded from here xxxx Im just looking for some hidden gems that I don't have. The platform I have is MAME 0.253, if that matters. PLEASE HELP!!!
  2. Hi there- I'm running into an error I can't seem to resolve. For a little context, I'm on Windows 10 running LaunchBox 13.24 and I've got my ROMs sitting on an external HD in their own folders (e.g. R:\Arcade\Sega Genesis\roms) outside of the LaunchBox directory (which is on the same external HD, R:\Arcade\LaunchBox), and have imported all of my ROMs in the same way using Tools>Import>ROM Files>Single Platform. Arcade ROMs are running on MAME, and console ROMs are running on RetroArch. Here's my problem: I click the "More Options" (3 dots) menu below a ROM (for example in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System platform), then click "Configure", and I receive an "An error occurred while trying to launch the game: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error. I've tried Tools>Download>Force Update Games Database Metadata to no avail. I can play the ROMs just fine, so this isn't a critical error, just something I stumbled upon and found strange considering everything else works as expected, as far as I can tell. Something else I don't understand is that for certain platforms, e.g. Sega Genesis, clicking the 3 dots menu on a ROM only gives the option to "Delete" and doesn't have the "Configure" option at all. TIA to anyone who can shed any light on this.
  3. Unibox View File Intro Unibox allows you to add roms to any Launchbox installation you have running on your local network on the fly. It also automatically adds metadata and media. This can be done in real-time, making it useful for installations such as arcade machines or rigs dedicated to running BigBox. No manual adding of roms to folders required, or going into Launchbox to add more games. Project thread here for more up to date features and screenshots etc. The videos below were made on the first version so there's been a number of improvements since then. Video of it in action: Getting started guide: Presently in Beta, so maybe test on a test installation first. Hope helps! 5. So I noticed that im running out of space. And I see that IMAGES and MUSIC and VIDEO is now nearly 1/5 of my 500gb drive space. As well as my roms. Maybe you have experience with this and cam make suggestions. But I am still adding new roms and plan on adding the BB jukebox and music files. This is a dedicated pc win 10 LAUNCHBOX system with only launchbox and related software. I have 2 drives. 500gb ssd for software system and most roms 2TB hd for backup and lazerdisc games. Trying to keep roms on the faster drive but that is becoming increasingly difficult. Also not sure how much spare space I should have. Can someone suggest what should be where and if there is anything i dont need or how they would do it differently to optimise space and efficency ? Thanks ?
  6. When try to import WiiU ROMs in Loadiine format, I found that Launchbox list every single files in the game folder. How can I tell Launchbox to import *.rpx files ONLY? I didn't found such settings. Example: importing two games: Mario Kart 8 and Xenoblade Chronicles X This is what happened when I try to import ROMs using `Scan for Added ROMs`, there're only 2 roms, but launchbox listed like 25k files, the window freeze for 5+ seconds if I try to select and delete some of them. I mean, seriously? Launchbox even list *.tga, *.h264, *.svg, *.url, *.xml files. I don't know there were WiiU games in *.url format, amazing, can I play it with my Firefox? I know I can import from files instead but `Scan ROMs` is much better if it has a file type filter: 1. `Scan for Added ROMs`with filter - Simply click, click `Next` 3 times then we arrived the Ready to Import window, since there're only *.rpx files we can click Finish immediately. - Done, we finished importing for newly added ROMs in 4 simple clicks gracefully 2. `Scan for Added ROMs`without filter - Simply click, click `Next` 3 times then ....then window freeze for 10+ seconds, then we arrived the Ready to Import window - Ok we need to delete everything except *.rpx files, which means you need to found those *.rpx files out in 25k+ files, and each action (select/delete) freeze the window for 5+ seconds - After few freezes we finished importing for 2 new ROMs. I can tell you it will be {5 * roms} seconds of freeze before the Ready window showing, {15k * roms} files listed in the Ready window. Good luck filtering manually. 3. Import from files - Choose add files, then navigate to the deep path where you store your roms because Launchbox can't remember what the folder was last time - Type *.rpx in the right top corner and try to figure out which one is the newly added ROM because game name & rpx file name are usually different and unrelated. - Choose what platform the game is, again - Choose what emulator it use, again - Choose dont-move-my-roms option, again - Click `Next` 4 times then wow, finally we arrived the Ready to Import window - Done. But next time you added a ROM, you need to repeat all the steps above, AGAIN. Every SINGLE time. That's extreme tedious and annoying. So I hope there're filters before Launchbox list all unrelated files. Wildcard, regex, autohotkey script or whatever, better than nothing.
  7. Hi, I am trying to import a MAME romset from an extrernal HDD but it's crashing Launchbox on my NVIDIA Shield. Is this a known issue? or do I need to try something different? Thanks
  8. My old PC died, but I had everything backed up to an external. On the new PC, I immediately went to "FILE MANAGEMENT > RESTORE DATA BACKUP" which is great, as everything is in place, my Playlists are there, etc. However, nothing is connected, which makes sense, since everything is in a new location. What is the best way to go about reconnecting stuff? I can't just dump everything from the backup harddrive to my new C:\ as it's only 500 GB SSD. So it seems I'll have to go system-by-system, which is totally fine. I just want all my hard work organizing this preserved. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!!!
  9. In the games database (https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/), the total number of games for each platform must be indicated. I think it's something important that should be seen. Likewise, when you import roms from LaunchBox it should tell you how many games you are importing before hitting the accept button.
  10. So I currently have my Launchbox build on an internal SSD along with all my roms. I want to move just the roms to an external HDD and leave Launchbox on the SSD. What is the simplest method for doing this? And is there a benefit to having Launchbox on the SSD and the roms on the external? I definitely need the external because I have about 8Gb of rom data.
  11. I’m slowly getting my emulators up and running with launchbox except for sega Naomi. I followed the instructions on the latest you tube video but reicast is no longer available, only flycast (when using retroarch). I placed the bin and lst files anyways but when I ran launchbox it only found one game and it would work... is there any other way to get sega Naomi to work?
  12. Hello all! I just did a big update to all my MAME files for the first time in a while and I am unsure of how I go about getting "new" games to show up in LaunchBox. There have been a few new games added to MAME since I first imported everything, and I was wondering how to get LaunchBox to show them. Do I just import everything again like it's the first time ever? Also is there a way to make LaunchBox auto-sync so it automatically adds new games it finds in my C:\MAME\ROMS folder? I also for the first time downloaded the Software List set which is for console games like NES, SNES, Sega Master System, etc. These will all be running in MAME but I do not want any of those ROMs to show up in the "Arcade" menu. I would like them to be separated by individual consoles, even though they are all being played through MAME. Is there any way to do that? Finally I am seeing a lot mentioned in regards to a mame.xml file and how it gets updated, and I just downloaded the newest version of groovyMAME and there is no mame.xml file in there. From what I understand, LaunchBox requires an updated MAME.XML in order to import properly. Where do I obtain this normally? Like I said there was no mame.xml in the mame download zip I just got. Thanks so much in advance!
  13. Hello! I am on the latest Launchbox on my MAME cabinet, on a Windows 10 machine. I just learned about two prototype arcade games that never came out. Judge Dredd (Midway brawler; NOT the Acclaim shooter) and Power-Up Baseball, which is an NBA Jam-style game but with MLB. I have the roms for both (jdreddp.zip and pubball.zip) in the mame/roms folder like all my other ROMs. I tried to manually add each ROM into Launchbox, first by dragging the roms, and second my clicking on tools->add ROMs and neither option works. It goes through all the motions like asking me if I want to download manuals and stuff like that, and when I finish it always says "0 games added". Does anyone know what's going on? A friend and I are desperately trying to play these but are getting nowhere. Thanks!
  14. Hi all, Have a strange one. I have previously loaded and saved my roms into LB no problem. But recently noticed that I was missing a rom in particular. Virtua Cop 2. It had previously been loaded. However I tried to re load the rom to LB but it comes back saying 0 saved. I can't now seem to load this rom. Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestions? Thank you
  15. Hi All! I don't want to have a crap ton of MAME games. I am just looking to probably get 20-30. I have them downloaded, but when I go to import ROM, Launchbox doesn't like that I have uncompressed MAME files. I am able to play the games on standalone MAME, but when I try to import file using the ROM importer, it picks up 3/4 different things and none of them work right. What is the best way to import uncompressed MAME files? I've used the full importer, but that takes 6-8 hours and I end up just deleting everything anyway. PLEASE HELP!

Repository: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game Explanations in English: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game/blob/master/README.md Explications en Français: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game/blob/master/README-FR.md Beta version: don't change anything in LaunchBox. Use it only with roms ! What it does: It copies then compress everything about a game contained in the db of LaunchBox app. It generates a short xml file with the main information about the game It takes images, pdf manual, video, music, rom file. It takes also the cheatcode files if you fill the path ('GameName-.') It generates a tree view file. 7z and zip compression Backup datas about a game from LaunchBox xml When PackMe run, creates an enhanced xml file, adding missing paths, additionally to the original backup Permits to choose manually video, music, manual if db don't mention paths. Contextual menu permits now to make some operations to construct the workfolder, to compress it later. Why ? Because as a french gamer i wanted to save everything i fill about my games and keep it for later, just in case there was a problem, reinstall or whatever. Note Use it only with roms. Don't move or delete files from the source (never) It asks before to overwrite roms, manuals, music, video that are in the working directory meanwhile the copy (the target directory) Currently it asks a global permission to overwrite for the image/pictures files, even if there is no image file in the the destination folder. The clones are added only if they are grouped with a main in LaunchBox Compression 7z and zip It logs everything during the game treatment in a window, and a file. TODO Work in progress: Eliminate duplicates images files function in contextual menu (md5 calcul) Filter platforms Double Security on work folder Find a better way to handle images files Correct the english version Carroussel to see image files to overwrite etc... (if necessary) Mode silent without box prompt ? (All overwrite) Mode silent without log window Edit info in short list ? => it means to load total information of the game. Splashscreen on loading Ameliorate config with own browser system and box path editable md5 Compareason ? Move VFolder, HFolder, copyfile, reconstruct path (set a security basic path option) About EBGame.xml and OBGame.xml. This xml files are a first step to reinject games in LaunchBox xml files, but keep in mind, it's a beta. This is why i didn't make a function to do it, to test, before, the reliability, so wait before to do it manually, please, or do it at your own risks.
  17. Dear Arcade fans, I have a question concerning scraping media for games. A few days ago I added several Mame rom files with the help of the default Launchbox wizard on my Arcade system. Scraping all media is a process that takes a lot of time. In my case days on a row... While scraping all media (i.e.: Artwork), I noticed that I could not see the total amount of rom files that are being ‘scraped’. My question is: Is there an option so I can see if the system is scraping all the rom files? For example: pseudo code ? à scraping game with name (X), number (Y) of a total amount of games (Z). Based on that I can see if everything works as it should be. Otherwise I will abort the process (instead of waiting for hours/days). The underlying reasons of my question is that I constantly missing a lot of games after the import process. Thank you in advance for feedback!

    NAS for Roms?

Hi, I have a WD PR2100 NAS and am considering using that for my roms and using a PC for Launchbox (SSD), images/snaps and emulators (on HDD). The NAS has two ethernet ports (one currently connected to modem) and I would use other port to connect to my PC. Has anyone had much luck doing it this way? I would be emulating N64 and PS1 as the most demanding systems. Thanks
  19. Gday, Extreme noob here. When it comes to roms and romsets, do i need to use a certain type of ROM? Do they have to be in sets or can I piece a console together using different roms? I was told that No Intro are the best ones to use but I cant find certain no intro roms for certain consoles like MAME for instance. There are so many different types of the same games I don't know which ones i need. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  20. So I just made the jump over here from GameEX. I loved the front-end but the UI just didn't update well, so hello! I've begun importing my ROMs and was wondering if I could queue a handful of system to scan say over night. It seems that I can not add a new set of ROMs till the past one is done scanning. Am I able to import the info (for example) Sega 32X, NES, Playstation, of where all these ROM are located, then set LaunchBox to start scanning all new ROMs? Thanks for the help and can't wait to get creating!
  21. Hello everyone, i'm new to launchbox and trying to figure some things out. I've been searching for a while and couldn't find an answer. I've imported my roms for many platforms and the problem i'm facing is that for some games i have two or three different region roms e.g. Europe and US. Launchbox by default prioritizes those from Europe and i can't find a way to change it so it defaults to US. Also in region priorities it is on top but still that does nothing. If i go to edit and then additional apps i can choose default from there but i can't find a way to do it massively.
  22. Hi there Im a new user of bigbox and i find this app really awesome! I usually google/solved most of the issues i came across pretty easily and my game collection is taking a nice shape (and space). ? But now i cant really find a easy/reliable solution for my problem. 1 - i have alot of arcade roms in a single folder "Arcade" 2 - i created cps1/cps2/taito/etc playlists and everything works fine ofc. 3 - but... what i really want ... is to move the rom files (and sub roms/apps associated) of those playlists (or from a platform) to separeted folders and this way create a platform for each arcade system and making my retroarch setup easier. Why bother? you ask well.. first i was thinking of doing that but had no reason except my OCD, and.... later on i found out the bezel project for retropie. I quickly managed to convert all those cfg files to the windows retroarch quite fast (using an app called text replacer tool) and having costum bezels for each game in several platforms (nes, mame, snes, etc) with minimal effort. But the arcade/mame platform (im using fba for retroarch) screwed my plans, some bezels had dif aspect ratios and i could not use the same core settings for all games like i did with all the other platforms. I quickly found out that was related to the system itself... so... basically if i place each system roms in their folder (cps1, cps2, nintendo arcade, taito, etc) i could easily setup core settings by folder in retroarch and problem solved! tl:dr Is there an easy way to move roms from a launchbox platform / playlist (and their associated apps or roms) to another folder? or i will need help from a rom manager? sorry for the wall of text, thanks in advance!

PackMyGame View File Repository: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game Explanations in English: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game/blob/master/README.md Explications en Français: https://github.com/daerlnaxe/Pack-My-Game/blob/master/README-FR.md Beta version: don't change anything in LaunchBox. 24. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this or not. But anyways, I'm missing 28 games from my ROMs folder. These ROMs have already been sorted out by myself as 'parents only' (from m HyperSpin set), and I'd have liked to have all of them imported to Launchbox (with or without meta data), but it seems that if a MAME ROM is not in the database, it is not imported. I don't like that - if a ROM is going to be skipped like that, it would be nice if Launchbox would at the very least create a list of games that were skipped, so that I can then add the games manually, and enter in the meta data. Any chance of something like this being implemented? Maybe Launchbox could generate a text file with the list of ROM files that were skipped.
